It's a 2-way contract; how can anyone have a problem with re-signing Veilleux?

Hopefully, our 4th line is: Powe-Coyle-Clutterbuck (or Coyle-Powe-Clutterbuck) with Veilleux making the team as 13th forward. A prosepct will not make the team as the 13th forward.

Koivu-Heatley-Granlund
Cullen-Latendresse-Bouchard
Brodziak-Parise-Setoguchi
Powe-Coyle-Clutterbuck
Veilleux (healthy scratch, plays when injury callup can't get to game in time.)

What sort of madman would put Coyle on a fourth line?

I consider Coyle on the 3rd Line- He would get 3rd line minutes.

Line 3: Powe-Coyle-Clutterbuck.

The same madman who would put Clutterbuck on that line if we have a top 9 of:

Line 1: Koivu-Heatley-Granlund
Line 2A: Cullen-latendresse-Bouchard
Line 2B: Brodziak-Parise-Setaguchi

Fletch better not tell Parise who he's playing with until after he signs.

Are you trolling with this lineup? This can't be for real... And if not, you have to get their positions at least somewhat correct.

i'm fine with this. Two-way deal, probably around league minimum, insurance against a rash of injuries, and someone who will seriously work their *** off every minute they play, hopefully some of that will wear off on the rest, nothing wrong here at all.

I like this signing.

He's got a ton of energy and he plays his ass off.

Not sure why people are calling him "not an NHLer"... he may not be an offensive producer, but I don't remember once noticing him as a liability or gaffe-prone in his latest stint. On the other hand, I do remember him working his ass off in the middle of a lazy, hopeless team, and I remember him single-handedly changing the momentum of a game for the better several times. He's exactly what I want in a fourth-liner.

Don't care one way or the other with re-signing him. He can be a spark plug though, which this team sometimes needs. He was also one of the very few (if not the only) guy who looked like he actually cared after the games held no importance during the dying days of the season. If he can keep that up, great.

Now, if Fletcher re-signs Foster, THEN we hit the panic button hard.

Hopefully Veilleux wasn't playing hard towards the end of last season just so he would get re-signed. I'd like to keep him on the 4th line and let our prospects develop down in Houston.

The organization has made it pretty clear they're not afraid to send him down to Houston (or sit him in the press box) if the lineup requires it. He's pretty much risk free for waiver claims, and provides an option on the 4th line if we don't have someone else for the job (or run into injuries).

Count me in that group, but on a two way deal where he can give some of our kids time to develop and also be sent down at the first sign of his usual sucking, i can live with it, as long as it was a two way deal.

He'd get sent down whether it was a two way deal or not... the only difference is a two way deal pays him less if he's in Houston. He'd still have to clear waivers to go down. It's not any easier or difficult to be sent down with a 1 way deal vs a 2 way deal.

Don't really think we'll have to worry about losing him on waivers with him though.

The 2 way deal is important because Leipold still has a budget for this team. I don't know if he'd be happy with Fletcher storing salary in Houston. Fletcher in that case might be a little too conservative about keeping him up in St. Paul when he shouldn't be.

True enough, and that's really the only person the two way deal is important to... surely not the fans.

Yup he's not here to score goals, aside from a few, energy, crash and bang type of player, change the momentum of a game with a huge hit. We need someone like him.
