It's not a bad deal for either team.

From a Colorado standpoint, my only problem is that adding Frolik would give the Avalanche 13 forwards, and that group includes only two centers (O'Reilly/Duchene). But I suppose they could make other trades/adjustments.

why are teams after Ryan O'byrne all of a sudden?

I wouldn't do this trade.

Chicago is definitely giving up a lot, but I personally think it would be worth it. Seems like a good trade for both teams.

As an Avs fan, pass. Absolutely no reason to trade Statsny, and this trade doesn't even make our team better right now. It does potentially in the future, but we have a young group of core guys, which includes Staz.

I personally don't think Hjalmarsson is that good, he would be an upgrade no doubt, but not enough for us to part with Stastny.

Is there anything that you can replace Frolik with?

Not bad, but no thanks from the Avs. Zero reason to trade Stastny unless were getting a piece we absolutely need in return.

Value may not be terrible, but I personally see nothing that makes it logical for the Avs.

Exchanging O'Byrne and Hjar is at best a lateral move for us, but as a lefty instead of righty.

Staz for Frolik, Saad and a 1st (~20th) isn't too appealing seeing as we're trying to be competitive now and Staz is our only sure thing at center going forward right now.

Honestly, there's not much I'd be interested in besides possibly Sharp (ignoring Seabrook/Keith). But he only makes sense if we're not dealing one of our centers away (to play with Staz) and that wouldn't make sense to Chicago.

This is probably one of the best offers Ive seen for Stastny to be honest. But it does not really fit our needs.. I would absolutely love to have Saad but Frolik wouldn't beat out, Mueller, Downie, Jones or Hejduk at RW..

Taking on Hjalmarsson would require us to trade Hejda and we already have Wilson who is similar to Hjalmarsson with what will likely be a cheaper cap hit.

From Chicago I would want Bolland + Saad + 2013 1st for Stastny + Wilson. You guys can figure out what to do with Hjalmarsson yourselves if you need a cheaper cap hit.

Edit : I would only trade Stastny after July 1st when we knew we didn't have a chance at Parise anymore. He would be the main draw and at that point we could decide if we were in win now mode or to collect more assets like Saad and picks.

Saad is a non starter for any trades with Hawks unless it brings back an elite talent

Honestly, for Stastny alone this is decent, but adding Obyrne makes me say no tbh. Obyrne has been incredible for the Avs, and we really need him next year, such a good PK guy and Defensive monster.

Without Obyrne I say yes, with Obyrne something else needs to be added tbh.

I think it is a good trade with an even balance, however I personally don't want to see Saad go

Gotta be a little more ballsy than that. There's only one spot on top six Wing available with Kane, Sharp, and Hossa in place. Stastny fills that gaping hole at #2 Center perfectly. You hope Saad can one day become the player Stastny is. I would gladly do a Saad-centered trade for Paul Stastny.

As the Avs, I wouldn't do this. We're no longer rebuilding and Stastny is a very important part of our top 6. Plus we need O'Byrne badly, we don't have an endless supply of shutdown dmen/PKers. I'd say no, sorry

What makes it even more gross is that it would need to be Kieth because Seabrook is right handed.

No way Hawks make that deal unless Suter signs there and even then probably not.

If we couldn't get Suter ourselves then I would rather add to Stastny and try to pull Yandle out of Phoenix considering they need a center as well and have better depth at defense. While Yandle is younger and on a better cap hit.

Love Seabrook, but he plays wrong side. If we trade Stastny it better fit our needs perfectly. I would not take the OPs offer either. Fair value, but really gives us nothing we need.

If the Hawks want a #2 center they are going to have to give up something of value. You guys do not exactly have a lot of strong prospects and any major player removed from your roster would hurt the "win now" effort.

Honestly Saad is about the only thing I could see Chicago parting with that might get a deal started for what you need without detracting from your roster.

Stastny's value takes a little bit of a hit given his cap hit and past 2 years being down years offensively
