I think Reinhart will be better than Murray in the long run.... Islanders tried to screw it up but the Jackets said NO WAY. Just kidding, I do like Murray a lot as well.. easily the 1-2 for dmen IMO but Reinhart is my #1.
If true, both organizations are filled with buffoons. NYI for offering that much to move up 2 spots and CBJ for declining.
This is why I'm entirely skeptical. If any team were to do it, it seems like it would be the Islanders, they're into whacky moves but since it didn't happen I doubt it was offered. And holy ****, I just noticed the Islanders took seven defensemen, talk about a strange draft.
Yea, that sounds pretty made up...Murray could have fell to Snow at four if CBJ went forward, so why would he offer seven picks for him?
Because 4th-7th round picks are entirely crapshoots. You get lucky once in a blue moon and get a gem like Jamie Benn and most of the times you just get a guy that goes back into the draft and no one hears about him again.
Lmao, well essentially the 4th,5th,6th and 7th have almost 0 value so its kinda like
4th OV + 2nd + 3rd + other scraps for 2nd OV
but not really I guess. What a crazy idea. Don't buy it.
This is a good point. I thought those two teams were eventually going to get a deal done to exchange their first round picks with NYI throwing in their 2nd and perhaps third.
But I guess since Forsberg wasn't as valued by teams as much as I thought he'd be, esp by CBJ at #4, it didin't make sense to give up a chance at an NHL ready d-man in Murray (something that NYI needed more than any other NHL team -- esp on cheep contract with inflated bonuses). Thus, I'm not surprised that NYI would have given up so much.
Now Howson can go ahead and trade one of their existing for more than a second and third I suppose.
