mtl - ana

this is more of a depth move, nothing really big here with us having so much defensive prospects we can offend to trade one of them and I would like to see Nathan Beaulieu in the line up next year because he will be coming to the AHL this year and I believe he can come up this year

To Montreal

Kyle Palmieri

To Anaheim

Raphael Diaz
3rd Rounder

We're not interested in moving Kyle. He's one of the few young guys we have that's NHL ready.

Palmieri is our top prospect. I can't see him moved for anything other than a similarly talented young center.

As it stands now he will be fighting for that position in camp. Same with Etem.

no offense but Etem is a hundred times better it makes no sense for him on the 3rd line as for montreal he will crack the top 6 in 2 years once gionta leaves

None taken but both players teared it up where they played last year. Etem was just beastly though.

Right for top 6 wingers we have

Perry
Ryan
Selanne (I think he will be back)
--
Etem
Palmieri

Palmieri had 58 points in 51 games in the AHL while being called up and down a couple times. I'm not sure how the third line will look since Murray wants the team to get bigger and there's also the case if Ryan were to be traded.. It will be interesting but those two could both be on the team with one on the third line.

Boudreau is already a big fan of Palmieri.

Honestly, if we were going to go for it all this year then I would seriously think about this. Our owner can pony up the cash if needed and if he wanted to take advantage of Perry and Getzlaf's last years on cheap contracts and go for it then we could.

I really think BM is gonna make a run at 1 of the top UFA dmen. Sutter or not, cash is gonna be spent.

Palmieri was just as prodigious of a goal scorer as Etem was in a tougher league. Etem may eclipse him in the future, but right now there is no reason to put one above the other.

Palmieri + Cogliano + 3rd rounder for Plekanec + Weber

It is interesting. It would suck losing both Palmieri and Holland without them really playing with our big club because fans have thought of them of becoming our Perry 2.0 and Getzlaf 2.0 for so long.

But I am a fan of Plekanec. Would solve our 2nd line center issue and there's no telling how Palmieri or Holland will really turn out. In the end I would probably do it.

I still have a hard time giving DSP that spot but that would be interesting. I'd rather see Etem up there personally and leave DSP to do his thing on the third line.

Galchenyuk, LeBlanc and Desharnais would be Habs center options for the future...but I suppose Holland could be dealt for Plekanec.

Would the Habs have any interest in Lydman?

Or would he even be available?

I see DSP to work with Getzy and Perry like Penner did. Etem would be better suited with Koivu + Selanne or Ryan + Plekanec IMO.

But in general I like the idea of Palmieri + Holland + Cogliano for Plekanec + Weber

He could be. Murray said he wanted to go with a younger blue line. Beauchemin is the only older defenseman that I think is safe.

If Vatanen comes in, we can be sure Lydman is safe as well. As a mentor for Vatanen.

The only obstacle I could see for Weber is that I think Murray has a specific defenseman in mind to fill the hole we opened up.

We'll see who that might be. If Murray gets him via FA I guess he won't be that special
