Rangers qualify Del Zotto,Stralman and Zuccarello

Interesting that the Rangers gave Stralman a QO. He is arbitration eligible. The indications were the Rangers were not going to bring Stralman back. His QO is $945,000.

They keep Zucca's NHL rights in case he returns in the future.

I think word was that Stralman was going to bolt to Sweden? Perhaps showing they're interested in retaining his rights will keep him around. If the Rangers are in fact missing out on Schultz, and Suter is staying out west it would be a smart decision to keep Stralman around.

Smart on Zucc's as well.

And I'm sure Del Zotto will get the Girardi treatment and try to get a two-year deal on his behalf before the season starts?

happy Stralman got qualified. The guys is 26 and deserves another contract. He would be a good 6/7 option on D. Staal, Girardi, McD, DZ, Erixon, Stralman, vet UFA or Schultz

Zuke makes sense since they may be able to move his rights at the draft. I am hoping to see him dealt for a pick and then he stays in the NHL

what about these AHLers?
G Talbot, Cameron sure he will be
D Baldwin, Lee no clue
F Wellman, Casey sure he will be has a shot at making it on the Rangers 4th line or extra F
D Valentenko, Pavel signed overseas so may aswell just drop him now
F Bouchard, F.
F Thuresson, A. signed overseas so same deal as Vtank I imagine
D Klassen, Sam no clue
F Chappell, Chris no clue

Stralman has until July 5 to file for salary arbitration.

The Rangers are allowed to give Stralman a 2 way QO. He doesn't meet the requirements for an automatic 1 way QO. He won't sign a 2 way QO.

On breakup day,Stralman said he preferred to stay in the NHL and then made a comment about it being a family decision which means he will play in Sweden. The family wants to return to Sweden. Who knows?

Well I am happy we are going to try to keep Strahlman around. Much better option as our depth/bottom pairing Dman than Bickel.

we shall see I guess, regardless its good they keep his rights cause he's still relatively young. I imagine he will be back in the NHL at some point, hoping its this yr cause he did a good job and is nice depth

Simply can't enter next season with both Bickel and Stralman in the everyday lineup. Can't count on Sauer. Hole to fill on bottom four.

Stralman would be a good bottom pairing guy.

I'm done with Bickel, though. Let him be the extra d-man or forward. Hopefully we use him instead of Sather's yearly goon signing.

Bickel fine but Stralman is fine plus he's more of a depth guy if he's back. He's better than both Bickel and Eminger as a spare.

I am kind of afraid they bring back John Scott as the last guy on the roster......just throwing that out there, lol

funny I just said that about Scott, bad news is Sather has Bickel and Scott as potentail goon spares

even worse is if Prust leaves then Sather likely signs another enforcer. Dont leave Prust!...........if he does I am going to guess Aaron Asham is a Ranger

no pt in doing that though cause McIlrtah is likely a yr away from being the enforcer

How is Bickel fine? When the coach doesn't trust to put you on the ice for more than 5 minutes in a triple OT game, you're not fine.

I'll repeat, they can't enter next season with both Bickel and Stralman in the line up every game.

Prust I think stays. He's loved by the rangers and fans. Asham isn't too bad though I wouldnt mind him. just no scott please.

Agreed. I'd love to take a look at Garrison, but that's me

Wouldn't mind a veteran bottom pair guy.

no man I was saying Bickel fine, get rid of him, lol.....I agree no point in bringing him back at all. Agreed they need a Depth Dman either Schultz or a vet

To me it needs to be Schultz and a vet.

1) No lock that Schultz wins a roster spot. Can't count on him until he earns it. They made that mistake with Erixon last year

2) If Schultz does win a spot, it allows them to move one of their defensemen.

yea I am kind of torn on Schultz cause I have never seen him play. Everyone is saying he's a top UFA Dman but if they do get him it just brings another kid on that really we cant completely count on yet.........which is why adding a vet with him does make sense

in the end if they lose out on Schultz really they only need a vet. So who? Kubina, Kuba, Sarich have played for Torts............Garrison and Wideman will cost alot

I actually trust Stralman as a 6/7 if he comes back. Sauer we cant count on , freaking wish we could cause this convo would not be happening

I think Erixon wins a job and I would like them to have a spot open for him or even McIlrath to surprise

McD, Girardi
Staal, Del Zotto ( if they are going to pay him he has to learn that Right side better)
Erixon, UFA Dman
Stralman if he returns to NHL the RFA offer means he's on the team, hopefully Sauer eventually
McIlrtah or Vernance first call up

I do see what you mean with maybe another vet since Erixon and McIlrath faltering leaves a hole. I still say you cant block them though

how much you wanna bet Woywitka is back on a two way deal and starts in the AHL?

I sure hope Stralman stays. He has made great strides since signing here. Makes for a great bottom pairing defenseman.

If we could get Shultz, that's awesome. Between him, Erixon and Sauer, one of them should be able to vie for a spot in the top 6. I'd be very happy if we went into the season with a D corps that consists of McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, Del Zotto, Shultz, Erixon, Stralman, Bickel and possibly Sauer and McIlrath. That's solid young depth all the way through.

If no Shultz, honestly I'd be happy with trying to get Wideman, as long its not a ridiculous contract. Three years, 11 million wouldn't be too bad. He's certainly capable of playing top 4 minutes with Staal on the right side. And he gives us a solid shot on the power play.

its a tough call cause on paper Wideman is not a bad fit for Staals partner but he is going to get a ton somewhere cause he's the best D option available
