He can't reveal the details on a trade that is not done yet. That would be a horrible idea; he would likely lose his job.
He absolutely can't reveal anything until its final- unlike TSN or sportsnet, he works for the Leafs and represents the Leafs - trade information that is not finalized could be tampering... If he worked for any other station he'd be ok to say something about it
And yes, it's ok to mention they are working on a trade as it doesn't tell us who they are trying to acquire. If trade falls apart or details change (say a secondary player) and the details go public... That player would now know the leafs were trying to get him and could change his mind about playing for the team he currently is playing for
Can't he get in "trouble" for even mentioning the possibility of a second trade? But, it doesn't matter any more as news of any trade will probably come out tomorrow.
He is allowed to speculate that a deal is being discussed; it is typical of this time of year. He isn't going out on a limb. He has done nothing more than suggest that Burke may not be done yet; he has not even revealed a timeline or indicate if it is eminent.
Coming out and naming names would be tampering. They are very different scenarios.
It's twitter for one. Secondly it's the leafs- all outlets with real credibility are owned by Rogers and Bell... Same guys who own the Leafs
There is no need for the organization to do brand building
Oh, I didn't mean that it was brand building or that he was making something up as a tease. I was just saying, that when they do tease about something, I'm not sure that they're fully aware that people sit on the edge of their seats waiting for more. That's all.
I honestly hope its a goalie not named Luongo just so the Luongo business can stop.
I agree as there are goalies I would prefer to have but on some level I want Luongo here so that we can settle the arguments about what the price would be. If he goes somewhere else, for say a 1st and a 2nd (purely for the purposes of conversation), Vancouver fans would be claiming the price from Toronto would have been completely different.
If they are talking to Nashville, as was mentioned yesterday, there are a couple of guys I would like to have (Rinne being top of the list but there is no way that happens). If it is the Blues, they have said they are looking for d-men so I would love to see one of ours plus something else be sent there for Halak.
Unfortunately, we do not know which team this alleged deal is with so all we can do is guess and wait.
I dont really see why the Blues would want to trade any of their good players when they just started making the playoffs especially any of their centers. I dont think it would be the blues if there is a trade being worked.
