DVD writer issue

Alright, I got a burner for Christmas and I had a IT guy at my work put it in for me. I brought it home, tried to use it and it wouldn't work because of the disc protection stuff (that's not the problem). The problem is now when I turn my system on, instead of going from the Dell -> Windows -> desktop, the first thing that pops up is some options (F1 to continue, F2 to setup). And now, no matter what I do, I can't get my PC to recongize the drive. The drive still gets power, the tray opens and the light is on, but the PC doesn't read it nor is it no longer in the "my computer" with my hard drive and other disc drive. What shall I do? If anyone needs to know what it says in the beginning of startup with the options, I'll be happy to restart the computer and write what it says down if that will help.
