Yeah. It's gonna be my parents 40th Anniversary and we're having a big party for them. I'm gonna feel like a dick sneaking down to the basement, getting on the computer, and refreshing this board every five minutes. And then everyone will probably think I won the Powerball or something if we sign Suter or Parise.

Well at this point, Shero better have his hat in the ring of every big name FA, and potential trade out there.

Imagine if the Wings managed to get Suter, Parise, and Semin.

Easily favorites, in my book, to win the Cup.

I don't think they want both. Parise is likely both teams prime target and Semin is their fallback at some point.

Until Semin gives up a bad goal in the playoffs. That's all it takes. One lazy play to ruin an entire season. Every player has to be on the same page & I don't know if Semin can do that.

Talent dont win cups, hard work, defense, and goaltending does.

If talent were the case the penguins should have about 3 cups with crosby, malkin, and staal in the linup.

So this means neither will get him while both retract initial offers.

One thing I will say about Semin is, he can play either wing. That's a lot of flexibility. The PP now expanded into two world talented PP's.

If Shero's going after Alex Semin, I feel pretty confident we're gonna find a way to acquire a top 6 forward. Guy ain't ****in around.

The entire Wings organization is dedicated to winning, so they do work hard, and adding Suter makes their defense nearly just as solid as it has been. They'll still have a nice corp. back there, even with Stuart and Lidstrom gone. Parise is one of the hardest workers out there. Semin is the only questionable worker that would be on that roster, and something tells me Datsyuk could change the player that he is. He and Semin had fantastic chemistry in the Worlds this year.

To think that they wouldn't be favorites with that roster, you're only fooling yourself lol.

Yep. It takes a mix. You need guys that bust their ass but you also need some skill guys that can put the puck in the net. We have fairly responsible centers defensively and guys like Dupuis/Kunitz that can be the 3rd wheel on a line with Semin for defense etc.

Shero is trying anyway to find crosby a winger for the future. Can you image crosby with either parise, semin, or ryan? He'd put up 115+ points

Moving Sutter to get Suter and then coaxing him to play center is going to be difficult to swing.

That's fine but I hope they move quickly either way. I don't want to lose out on Semin because we gambled and lost on Parise.

Hopefully we can move quickly on our intended targets on July 1st and get an answer back. It would be horrible to be stuck with the bargain bin choices again.

Although, given all this cap space, I really do think the Pens will explore the trade market if they don't get a premium free agent.

You don't want to wait a day for a star to make up his mind and then sign Satan again? He'll probably be available.

Funny how Syomin has been a recent topic, and now the Pens are interested. Sometimes I think that the media reads these boards and then regurgitates the contents to the masses.

That Wideman contract is a team overpaying to get a guy to sign. Probably the classic case of a guy not wanting to play there, and he's essentially playing with house money because he'll have a job come July 1, so his agent throws out a crazy number, and the GM is even crazier for accepting.

And it makes sense. If fans are talking about it, they are obviously interested. ****, if I was a writer, I'd start just feeding the fans what they want to hear. If you do they will obviously read it.

Hey, we won a cup with him. Why not?

I think our team is tremendous even if we don't sign a single player and fill the empty roster spots with AHL players. I mean we're already looking at:

Dupuis-Sid-
Kunitz-Geno-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Adams-Vitale-

Orpik-Letang
Martin-Engelland

Fleury
Vokoun

All before we've signed a single FA. That roster right there is already incredible. So I'm not worried too much. I'd love for us to hit a home run though .

Why would he sign for 5 x 5.25 if he didn't want to play there?
He knows he could get 4.5-5 from most teams who'd be asking about him... I guess that 250k might have been the overpayment, but clearly the location wasn't that big of an issue.

He got overpaid, and on top of that got term. Awesome deal for him.
