Free agency hasn't begun so it's still a bit early but I figured I'd start some speculation now with various players already on the move or retired. So, who do you think your team's captain and alternate captains will be for this year?

For the Sabres, as long as our players are kept, I can see us going with the same rotation (captain, two home alternates, two away alternates) as last year. We'd just need to pick one new alternate to take the "A" Gaustad used to wear.
I'd think either Regehr or Ehrhoff would be the logical choices considering who we already have. Leopold and maybe Hecht (if he stays) might be considered too.

The same lineup. Give Stoll an "A" if either one gets injured. Mike Richards and Jeff Carter will NEVER get a letter, I can guarantee it. Both have publicly said they don't want one.
Leafs is confusing because they seem to have rotating alternates.
Captain is obviously Phaneuf but the "Alternate" seems to rotate around Komisarek, Armstrong, Grabovski and Kessel.. Grabovski had an A for most of last season but lost it when Armstrong came back from his 3943 injuries. Kessel would wear the A whenever Komisarek was out which was a very large portion of the season.
Judging from last year, the pecking order of the A's was:
1. St. Louis
2. Ohlund (should he ever return)
3. Stamkos
4. Brewer (wore it when St. Louis was injured)
5. Malone (wore it on a few occasions in the past: pre-season, injuries, etc.)

Yeah, it got pretty ridiculous there. It would change on a game by game basis.
It will go to one of Letang, Orpik, or Suter/Parise if they sign. We are currently debating this third A on our own board. Some people say Orpik, others Letang.
if we keep the same 2 home 2 away, im guessing Pietrangelo is getting an A. Even though it would be nice to see Oshie with one too, its somewhat unlikely.
Timonen, Briere, Giroux and even Hartnell are in the running to be our Captain.
I assume it's going to be Timonen and he's worth the honor. But I won't be disappointed if Briere or Hartnell gets the C. I want Giroux to be free of the extra responsibilities until he feels that he's mature enough and can handle the pressure of being the Captain.
Alfie still hasn't announced anything official although I expect most people are expecting him to come back for one more year.
If he doesn't then I think Spezza would be expected to get the C and perhaps Neil would get an A.
there is also the possibility that Phillips holds the C for a year or two before retiring. At that point you have a clearer idea if the C goes permanently to Spezza or Karlsson.
