I remember being really excited about drafting him. The Leafs desperately needed a stay-at-home d-man (still need one I guess), and he was my 3rd favourite player of the 2008 draft (behind Stamkos and Doughty). When Fletcher traded up to 5th overall, me and my brother knew he was the one for the Leafs, and we celebrated when he was chosen.
Sad to see him go, but happy with the return. Thanks for the memories, Luke!
I doubt anyone can say Luke didn't give his all for the Leafs including standing up for guys when he wasn't a true fighter. I hope t works out great for him in Philly. I just don't think things were going to get better for him in Toronto
Always loved Luke, I think he's gonna have such an awesome career. He's a great fit for their system, which is what makes it even worse. But I'm happy for him, he'll have a great chance to evolve there and play with his brother.
I've got high hopes for Van Riemsdyk, I think he's just another big-bodied late bloomer, but he could play a big part in changing the look of our offence.
