how strange. i was able to play a drop-in, albeit lagging ever so slightly, but now i can't play again. rude, nhl 13. rude. at least i should be able to play when i go home next weekend. for now i'll live vicariously through the team.
EASHL is pretty fun. Don't know why I never tried it out in previous installments of the series. It is annoying when your Defense doesn't defend and when people call for a pass when the CPU goalie has 3/4 members of the opposing team surrounding the net.
It's difficult, but its not terrible. Just requires a lot more precision and you have to be smarter about passes. Its very very difficult to pass it through people like it may have been in previous games though. The one thing I've liked so far is that harder passes are harder to cradle. In the past (last year in particular), you could rocket a pass as hard as you could and they would cleanly pick it up. Nice to see that's not the case anymore.

From what I've seen they will get deflected and all of that. Passes aren't always clean or automatically picked up by one side or another. Like above, it requires a lot more precision. Harder passes aren't as easily picked up either (by either side). Not sure so much about bounces per se. But it is harder to accurately hit a guy in stride at times, especially if they skate incorrectly (change of direction, slowing up, or any other move that would change their pace with the physics engine) to receive it. Not a bounce, but you'll see passes just miss from time to time because of that.
I'm SO glad the rocket passes are gone. It hasn't been the easiest to get used to, but it feels so much better not being able to blast a backhand saucer pass halfway up the ice and have an 80-overall player corral it with no problem.

It's strange though, I actually pass better along the blue line now than when pucks had magnets attached.
Not that I was a perennial rocket passer, but I did use harder passes to my advantage in some situations a lot in last year's game. Its definitely an adjustment to get used to what doesn't work in this year's game compared to last, but overall I'm happy that it doesn't work as easily as in the past. Its a good adjustment. Just going to take a little while to learn what will work better here.
my game freezes like it's going out of style on gm connected.
I was going to ask if I was the only one. My game hasn't frozen on it, but the load time on any given screen is absurd. That default screen where you can sort through league news and stat leaders takes an absurd time to load from one list to the other. As does entering or exiting any other screen or option. Did not expect it to be that slow. Getting kind of frustrating, but oh well. Most of it I don't care for, so I'll be ok after the first time or two of figuring out where everything is.
That was one of the big complaints with NCAA 13, and from experience I can confirm its pretty bad in that game as well. Haven't played this year's Madden, but maybe its something in all/most of the EA Sports games this year for whatever reason.
