I can't imagine a player like Semin is very appealing to guys like Bergevin and Therrien.

Pretty happy we might be getting Lats back. He could look good next to Eller on the third line.

If Pens can give Crosby the bank with concussions, Habs can give Lats pocket change and take a chance on him .

He did go too Minny that year and show the Habs wrong .
He never slammed the door shut either, he always said he'd consider coming back "someday"...
Even said he still followed the team .His heart was always here IMHO.

Now Gainey Gauthier is gone , that is "someday"

THANK YOU! PLEASE COME BACK LATS!!!!!

Even if he is a healthy scratch, now that $300 jersey I bought a week before he ended up getting traded can come back out of storage!

Bring back Lats. He never wanted to go. Gauthier et al screwed it up. Sign him for 2 mill, sign Kovalev at 450, go after Doan and a Gaustad type, and all of a sudden this team is much tougher to play against.

I think this may have been better in the long run. Lats, like it or not, needed a kick in the pants. He got it, and now he can come back home and we can reap the benefits.

It's about time a local kid puts Montreal ahead of other teams...

Florida has Santorelli(1.6 mil) and Bradley(950k) on waivers for buy outs...both guys with only 1 year left.

I always liked Bradley, maybe he could fit as a 4th line C/W?

Yup, this situation could turn out a big win for us. Hopefully Bergevin makes it happen.

Oh, wait, aren't I supposed to hate french players?

Seems like Bradley is on waiver. Signing him and Latendresse could be a good way of getting bigger on the third and fourth line.

Santorelli could also be an interesting pickup. Fast and scored 20 goals once.

It feels weird to say "If they cant make it in Florida, they cant make it here." When Florida was in the play-offs and we weren't.

I would take latendresse back if he came cheap for 3rd line with eller and borque that can be a pretty good big line

If Lats wants to come back to Montreal at a reasonable rate I would welcome him back with open arms.

He would be a great linemate for Eller IMO.

They may or may not fit here, at least it gives us options for the bottom 6. At 1.6 mil Santorelli is a bit expensive and not the biggest guy, I'd go for Mueller, Boyes Latendresse Fehr ahead of him. Bradley could fit on the 4th after buyout at 600-700k/year.

Leafs fan coming in peace. Even though I am not a Canadiens fan I am sad and disappointed after hearing Crosby has signed long term with the Pens.
I honestly believed that if there was one player that would play out his contract and then sign with his favourite boyhood team it would be Sid.
Maybe his concussion problems had a role in his decision. Nonetheless I am very sad for the great fans of Les Canadiens de Montréal.

Even potentially with Gionta and Plekanec. Give him a shot to earn that spot.

To be honest, I enjoy that he shows complete loyalty to the team that drafted him. Unlike guys like Schultz.

Long term contracts mean as much as Jeff Carter's long term deal.
It doesn't mean players will play out entire contracts with that team .

Crosby got boo'd bad in Montreal , i think that turned him .

Latendresse has never played tough-defensive minutes like Plekanec gets all the time so I don't think you can plan on him playing on the same line as Plekanec. An offensive exploitation line with Bourque on the other wing and Desharnais or Eller in the middle would work pretty well though.

Bradley took 11 FW in 2010-2011 in 61 games so I doubt he's a FW specialist here. I'd still prefer Gaustad but he won't be cheap.

Btw, I'd love to have Tender back as well. He was clearly rushed after he was drafted so he must have gained much maturity since then.

Don't the teams split off the salary of a player waived ? Santorelli would cost 800,000$ if so.

Something like..

Pac - Plekanec - Cole
Lats - DD - Bourque
Moen - Eller - Gio

That's five top nine wingers who can post 25 goals.

Pretty much what I'd do (though I'd swap Cole and Gio and hope the Habs can acquire better LW than Moen but the framework is what I'm hoping for).

Give the Plekanec line the tough match-ups, Eller line gets the 2nd-tough match-ups, and the Desharnais line gets to feast on sheltered offensive minutes against bottom-6 opposition with a tonne of offensive zone faceoffs.

I'd like something like this:

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Jagr - Plekanec - Gionta
Bourque - Eller - Leblanc
Prust - White - Tootoo
Staubitz

Markov - Georges
Allen - Subban
Kaberle - Emelin
Webber

Price
Budaj

Do you think Jagr will play LW? Him and Pleks is so tempting to see happen right? I think Prust is going to get way overpaid. He will be the Leafs new 3 million dollar fourth line saviour. I'll stick with Moen, but I love your Tootoo idea. Tootoo, Asham, or Kostopoulos for 4th line RW would be good.
