I think Kadri still counts as a small forward.
I see your point, but I think he is just not bothering to make an effort to overpay and convince him to come to Toronto when there unlikely is any interest from him, and he doesn't really fulfill a need on our team. I guess him being a small forward is part of it, but I would assume he doesn't think he is worth the money/time/effort.

Either way I can see Kadri being involved in a trade, as he seems to have lost favour with our management.

So does Kadri+Lombardi+ option to switch firsts in 2013 work for people?

I hope they don't give up on Kadri yet.

Except didn't he also say that he wanted to retool not rebuild in Toronto? I'm not saying giving up a lot of pieces for Luongo is necessarily the right thing to do but for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in as long as they have, he's not doing a very good job of building a contender.

Why are folks still talkin TO??

Gillis and Tallon will do the right thing, sending Lou home to Florida.

Luongo... for... Petrovic, Matthias, and a 2nd.

Florida gets him cheaper than TO would because Gillis is a classy guy...

I would do that. But seems our GM has gone mad with his demands. I don't know what he's thinking.

One of the biggest mistakes IMO that GMs under pressure make is to acquire veterans instead of letting good young players grow into roles.

Mike Milbury is probably the best (worst) example of this type of GM.

It means if we have the 30th oa and you have the 15th, then Vancouver can choose to swap 1sts with you. Or if we have the 25th and you the 24th, etc. etc.

What was Lombardi thinking with those Carter/Richards trades?

Does Florida have any right handed defense prospects that project to close to NHL ready?

That Upshall n a conditional 2nd depending on the Panthers making the playoffs. If they don't we get a 3rd.

For Lu

Petrovic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although we seem to be going in circles. And if we sign Schultz then it makes him less valuable.

if i were gillis id wait. Although he may not have the biggest market of teams who want Lu, waiting and working with both leafs, panthers and any other team that may become interested minimizes the chances that the nucks will have to take back bad salary like lombardi.

I agree with you that they'll try their best to send him to FLA, but you're gonna have to take salary back to make it work. Lou makes 6.7 next year. Gotta take around that back IMO.

Upshall, Kopecky or Jovo work for me. Pick a contract, I wouldn't oppose it heavily.

No one knows, not even Lu, when he is going to retire.
Yet Burke is stupid enough to give atrocious deals to Komisarek, Armstrong, Lombardi....

Every team has their share of bad contracts, just look at what Ballard is paid and how much it cost the Canucks just to give him that contract.

Also for all those that keep repeating Burke may overpay or trade significant young assets for a goalie to save his job, he seems to disagree with you:

One thing Burke was emphatic on is that he will not sacrifice any of the team’s long-term future for short-term success.

“People say if you don’t make the playoffs you are gone,” said Burke. “That’s fine. I am not going to do anything short term to make the playoffs and keep my job.

“I want a parade. I’m not interested in making the playoffs – I want to win another championship.

“If that means we go with what we have because the price doesn’t make sense, I’m perfectly willing to do that. I’ve gotten fired before. It’s not fun, but . . .

Would he say my job is on the line and I need to desperately make the playoffs? Are people this blind? He's trying to get leverage on Gillis. Championship? With the current Leaf team, they won't have a shot for another 4/5 years. Burke's job has been on the line ever since he made the Kessel trade, and he knows it. There definitely won't be any parades or championships in Toronto... not under Burke anyway.

Yeah, I'm not sure why somebody would use a Burke quote and then spin it as truth. The guy has long been considered one of the best at media manipulation. I love to read what new BS he is spewing but stopped believing even one word the guy says a long time ago.
