If the intent was to draft a top D man, could be offer Gardiner to get 7 prospects from the Islanders?
They have Reinhart now....

Wow that would have been a steal by Columbus for sure! You get all those extra draft picks to move down 2 spots. Unless Murray is the reincarnation of Bobby Orr they should have did that trade.

Another epic fail by the blue jackets organization. It just goes to show that they'll probably be a terrible team for another decade.

Would of been a weird situation, if they accepted, for Columbus when they would have to sign that many picks in one year. They would of probably lost a few do to contract # limits. But at the same token hard to pass up that many chances to find a good player.

Basically it was what a 2nd a 3rd and a bunch of late picks... Murray will be a stud and will be in the NHL next year. Not that bad of a move. Cbj would have ruined all those picks anyways, hell they just fired 4 scouts... Thing is Reinhart is going to be a beast - just needs another year or possibly two. He's got the size already tho

What in God's name does Howson want for Nash then?

Simple answer is apparently not draft picks.

Looks like a classic case of a GM, who really shouldn't be, trying to improve his club now to keep his job, hence the huge overvaluation on Murray vs. anyone else in the draft 'cause he'll play next year.

There's no way this is true. If Howson is that stupid, the Isles could have just offered the same deal to Edmonton and they would have accepted. Nobody would turn that down.

Seems like BS but if not maybe Howson is familiar with the law of diminishing returns.

Milbury apparently made an offer like that years ago when he was on the Island...I know, it's Milbury...but what I find interesting is that this is twice now that an all-for-one pick type deal has been rejected.

It seems to me if someone made that proposal on the trade board the mods would lock the topic for stupidity.

How did Howson reject this? I get he liked Murray but seriously the difference between Murray and Reinhart or Riely, or anyone else he could have had at #4 + 6 more draft picks isn't big enough to reject.

If this is legit, both teams should be embarrassed.

Howson probably turned to his scouts and said, 'what do you think of this? You ready to recommend a crapload more players?' They said 'no'...Howson rejected the deal and then fired his scouts after the draft for incompetence.

This, along with the rumoured Ottawa deal just proves how much of an idiot Howsen is.

I'm not sure what I'm more suprised about, the fact that Snow actually offered this or the fact that Howson turned it down.
Are you joking me?!? The two dumbest GM's in hockey strike again. Their contracts need to be voided immediately for the good of the NHL.

If that deal were to happen I imagine Tavares would have an epiphany and demand a trade out of Long Island (preferably to Toronto ), before Garth Snow had a chance to **** up NYI even more.
