How many teams was he captain for? My guess is quite a few of them.
The thing that hurts him most is his lack of awards both team wise and individually in the NHL. But it is the HHOF, not just NHLHOF, so he should get in. He also is top 30 or so in alltime points isn't he? 1300 or something.
He was Sweden's captain from 1995 until he retired.
4 World Championships
3 Olympic Games
2 World Cups
In a few years when Daniel Alfredsson is eligable for the Hall of Fame, I hope that someone from Sportsnet who covers the Leafs or anyone else in Toronto writes an article saying how he doesn't deserve to get in. See how Mendes likes it when the shoe is one the other foot.
Bure, Lindros, and Sundin have similar chances of getting in the hall, by the way I see it. Sundin was the least dynamite but was consistent and quite good for Sweden. Bure and Lindros flamed out but were some of the best at their peak.

International events are really kind of a joke in my eyes anyway.
Six game tournaments with maybe 3 of those games at most being against top competition.
Sadly, the media puts such great importance on them.
You've got to be kidding me. The 2010 olympics was the highest quality of hockey I've seen in a long time. Made this year's playoffs look like a snooze fest. All of the big 7 teams have more top end talent than an NHL team, and even teams like the Swiss were able to play competitve hockey.
