Isles contacted Ducks re: Bobby Ryan

Two posts from Botta about Isles' interest in Bobby Ryan in one week. You do the math.

Quote:
Source confirms #Isles asked Ducks last week about Bobby Ryan, who'd be perfect rebuild next-step. Nothing close yet.

Get it done, Garth.

Where have we heard this before? Haha.. I would love to have Bobby Ryan but until he's donning an Islanders Jersey I flat out refuse to get excited about it.

Isles have made a few deals with Murray. Latest, Visnovsky. Isles traded Blake to ducks in 07, but too late after nhl trade deadline. Isles also acquired The Wiz from the Ducks.

The history is there. If there's any GM willing to dance with Snow, it seems like Murray listens.

You would have to think one of our young dman like de Haan or Donovan is on the block with the way our draft went. It would also probably include Grabner and possibly next years 1st rounder. More?

Jeez...I saw this thread, then went to Facebook and saw Grabs tweet response from Bobby Ryan wishing Lubo well. For about 3 seconds, I thought it was Bobby Ryan saying that he's leaving Anaheim and Grabs welcoming him with open arms. Damn.

My god would getting Bobby Ryan be awesome! He desperately wants out of Anaheim, and they're apparently overwhelmed with offers, but have only taken 4 of them seriously, wonder if the Isles are one of the 4. He's only heard of Philly being in the mix, and says it's his number 1 choice but is willing to go anywhere. Get this one done Garth, it's time for this this fanbase, team, and Tavares to experience the playoffs and make some noise!

i agree 110%

This is THE move to make. Please, Garth... don't let this one slip away. I am really against trading Strome..

But F it. I'll give him + Donovan up in a deal for this guy.

While I'd love to get Ryan, I don't see it. Snow has unflinchingly held onto all of his kids and is not going to unload any now before we really see what we've got. Ryan is going to cost a lot and should be heavily pursued by all the teams that are in the Nash race. Murray would be smart to wait it out until Nash is traded when Ryan's value would be at it's peak. This team is not yet at the stage where we could be serious players in any deals that involve stud players.

Let me ask you something, Murray says:

Ryan
Sbisa
2013 2nd

for

Hamonic + Ness

You say no?

Sorry, but Murray isn't making that offer.

Why not? Hamonic may end up being the best piece in this deal.

And do you accept that offer? Yes/NO? why?

We'd probably have to give at least Strome, De Haan and Grabner, would you do it ? Grabner scored as many goals as Ryan 2 years ago by himself.

P.S.- I don't see us getting Ryan, it's like Kovalchuk 2 years ago, ain't gonna happen.

That offer isn't getting Ryan by himself let alone Ryan, Sbisa and a 2nd. I think being a 22 year old veteran who's scored over 30 goals in each of the 4 seasons he's played might garner a little bit more than just Hamonic and Ness (who is pretty worthless to anyone outside of NYI, IMO).

I love Hamonic, but of course I'd do that trade. I'd even drive him to the airport. With that said, I think that deal is incredibly unrealistic.

If you follow the general formula, Ryan is going to net a 1st, young roster player, and a top prospect. I don't think this team can yet afford to part with that type of package.

This is more like it and I think even this deal might fall a little short.

You take it and run. Dont think Hamonic and Ness get you Ryan let alone Sbisa and our 2nd back.

WOW....You caught me on this one.....Im stuck....I love Hammer but man this trade is very good for nyi imo....

Ryan would cost more though....

they said they want cheap youngish roster players....

Grabner+Nino+Mayfield+20131st for Ryan and Sbisa.....Take out the 1st if Sbisa is not in the deal....

I dont believe Snow gets this done but this would be an awsome deal for us, Ryan would be great with JT...

Snow really needs to explore this....

Where do I sign? Ryan is just what this team needs, and he wants to win. Would be ecstatic if this happened and imagine the positives for the franchise. Please Snow!

I can see the phone call going something like:

Murray: Hello
Snow: Hey Bob, it's me Garth. Yeah, about that "Buddy Ryan" kid. What's it gonna take for you to send him to the Islanders?
Murray: Well Garth, it probably starts with Hamonic, Neiderrieter, and your 1st overall next year.
Snow: But Hamonic is an actual rosterable NHL player!
Murray: Yes, I'm aware of this. So is BOBBY Ryan,
Snow:......
Murray: Garth?
Snow:........
Murray: Hello?
Snow: *squeal*
Murray: what? Garth? Hello?
*dial tone*

It's going to cost a lot... Murray would be slaughtered if he didn't get at bare minimum a first + strome + roster player.

The disgusting part of all these types of scenarios is that we have the pieces, and certainly the cap space, to land just about anyone we want...but we never do because, well, we're the Islanders...
