Glad to see him re-signed, but it's too much money for what he's done, IMO. I get paying for potential, but still think Jets overpaid here.

Great deal and nice to get it done before anything got really ugly. Very fair for both sides and I love the term.

I'm impressed that Chevy got it in under the $4m mark, considering the hard ball Walsh was playing.

This makes me very happy.

Suck it Dreger.

Monster.

Bigger, younger and more upside. That is unless it comes down to money... Mason can still fit the bill. Nice gear too.

Wow he made off like a bandit on this deal. I expect some very solid play over these 5 years...Quick style play.

Glad we got a deal done though.

That little chat Chevy had with Pav's agent at the end of the draft on Saturday probably sealed the deal.

Great work Kevin!

GREAT!

Love it. Pavs the right goaltender for us and will be for the next 5 years to a very good and maybe in future awesome cap hit.

That's good news. Hope that's a good sign for Kane especially.

I really grow into the idea having the Monster now as our backup.

Agreed.

The pressure is all on Pav's shoulders now to be much more consistant. Lets see if he can handle the pressure.

attaboy Chevy.

A bit pricey to start with but if he progresses like I think he will that is nice value and we have one of the youngest goalies in the NHL tied up until he's close to 30!

Good signing. A bit much now - a bargain in five years.

I agree, but I think Pavs can do it. If we can build a solid wall of capable defenders in front of him, he'll seem as impregnable as the teen daughter of a man with a bad temper, who owns many guns.

This spells the end of Mason in Winnipeg. He is just aging now and his best years are behind him.

I think that buys some years of UFA. I assume its loaded in the end as was Ladd's deal. It's a bit high on average but I'd be more concerned if it was shorter term. I think its fair.

Buys at least one UFA year, though I guess it's hard to say with that potentially changing in the CBA.

Wow did Pavs get lucky. He has potential but has proven nothing. He signed for 2.1 Million more than Quick and Howard's 2nd contract?

It's a lot to pay this guy.. I just really really hope he continues to work his ass off to get better. He seems like a great guy and should be good in the community.

At least we know who our Goalie is!

I think that the fact that there were not many goalies out there to replace him, and we don't have an NHL ready guy in the AHL nor a quality signed backup worked in Pavelec's favour. It's a very nice deal I think, the 5 years is a bit risky but it could work out well, especially with an improved D in front of him.

I agree out of the blocks it looks rich......we lose if he stays flat or shows little progression.....it he grows this could look really nice in 5 years? No doubt we are paying for some upside.

A bit unfair here aren't we? Pavelec has been pretty inconsistent thus far in his career, but I don't think there's that many people who'll deny that he's a legitimate starting goaltender at the moment with the potential to be a lot more then that.
