FWIW, he had his best year playing LW with Mueller on the right. (centers were interchangable.. Reinprecht, Perrault, Kapanen.. yikes)

Whats not to like. Doan is a player who gives 100 percent and plays with grit. Hes listed at 225 lbs and had 205 hits last season. Hes no spring chicken but he is exactly the type of player that the Hawks need for a few years duty. Stan should be salivating at the news that Doan is testing the free market.

Stalberg-Toews-Doan
Sharp-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw

or

Sharp-Toews-Doan
Carcillo-Kane-Hossa (this line clicked for awhile last season)
Stalberg-Bolland-Shaw

or

Sharp-Toews-Doan
Saad-Kane-Hossa
Stalberg-Bolland-Shaw

Agree 100% on the term Doan should get. But I'm 90% sure that some team will offer 3-4 years and I wouldn't want to give him that much term.

Anyone who wouldn't want Doan on this team is out of their mind. Especially on a Hawks board where everyone here just saw him be a monster in the 1st round

Right, he's exactly what they need on a top line.

Sharp-Toews-Doan
Stalberg-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw
Carcillo-Mayers-Hayes/Bolllig/UFA

Stan salivating at Doan? I DOUBT IT:

1. To big...
2.To gritty...
3.Too competent...
4.Too old except as stop-gap for 2-3 years BUT STAN won't bite unless the 'geezer' takes a bottom 2 line discount --NOT paying him $4.5 mil/yr. for 3 years...ONLY if he accepts a front-load but overall CGEAP cap hit might he bite on Doan --ie. $4.5,$3.0 $1.5 = $8.5/3= a friendly $2.83 per yr...something like that and MAYBE STAN willbite IF he fails on SUTER..

BYW--DOAN was -8 this past year on a PHX team that was very good defensively --probably goes to -16 on the Hawks team of lazy slackers and incompetent D and goaltending ..but hey, IF we do not "spash" on Suter ya gotta shoethe fans something --so MAYBE he is one of the pLAB "B" options...

Doan was pretty bad in the first round series. But I agree... would be a hell of a pick-up.

Actually, the Hawks' more potent offense should make up for their poorer defense as it did in 2011-2012 regular season. If you look at team goal differential, the Hawks were +19 and Phoenix was +18 for the regular season. Plus if you put Doan with playmakers like Kane, Toews, or Hossa, which Phoenix can't match, I would expect his point total to go up.

Was my favorite player for awhile. Doan would be an awesome addition, and would likely steal an A away from Sharp/Keith.

He was, at best, fair. He was far from being a "monster".

The Phoenix forwards were generally pretty poor agaisnt us.

We lost to a team we outplayed badly because of extreme bad luck and supreme goaltending from Smith.

Doan was invisable most of the series.

Captain Jonathan Toews said he lobbied with Shane Doan the last couple of days to join #Blackhawks as a free agent.

People thought Bruno would be a great addition to our team. Doan is not the player he was 2 years ago

Isn't that tampering, since Doan is not a UFA yet?

Why after watching Doan toy with this Hawks team for the first round why would nobody want him.

What are the Hawks lacking up front.
Size, check
toughness, check
grit, check
physicality, check
net presence, check

He isn't Brunette or Morrison who where well past their prime, Doan has a year or two left especially when put on the right team with the right role.

Exactly. Even if he proves to have lost a step, those qualities above are all needed badly. Except for his age, he's a perfect addition. He'll probably be looking for 3 years minimum though, 2 would be better but I doubt that will work for him.

Doan would be huge for this team. I wanted to try and grab him at the deadline if the Yotes weren't playing well. He's absolutely what this team needs. I'd love love love...
Doan-Toews-Kane

That line would absolutely kill teams. The balance is perfect, the talent is there.

If Bowman gets Doan then that's a huge step in the right direction. Toews and Doan are buddies too.

If Stan , Q , etc anyone in Hawks management or coaching did it that would be tampering

Players can talk all they want

no thanks on doan. He's old and has played on the same team his whole career. Not the guy I gamble on.

Ummmm what?

Guy is a total warrior, sure he's getting up there but he's still a very good player and is exactly what our top 6 is missing. Good leader too.
