Avalanche signs Mark Olver 2012-13 $550 000 (2 way) 2013-14 $650 000 (one way)

Olver signed for two more years per Renaud. Discuss.

Less than people suspected. I think we're definitely going to sign some players in the upcoming days.

I see a clear distinction between how Sherman handled this, and the almost identical situation of Riku Hahl and Matt Hendricks were handled by previous administrations. I like this version much better.

Surprised it isn't a one-way for both years. Either way, Great signing

I think management sees that he is close to the big club but potentially sees that he could need to go back for more seasoning. They fully expect him in a year after next tho.

OR!!! Just put him down for next year in case of injuries and once Kobascrew leaves he'll get his full roster spot.

from our awesome beat writer's latest blog: I also canít write a trade/signing is official until itís been vetted by my bosses. That means this: I may know about a trade and want to write it on a place like Twitter, but very often canít until it has been fully verified. Yes, that has led to some great frustration on my part in the past Ė because very often in todayís media world, the news will officially break somewhere else while Iím still going through the proper channels to get it out there. Scoops donít last long in this business anymore, is the bottom line. Yeah, that may make me/us sound like dinosaurs, but itís still the right way to go about things. The list is growing all the time of media outlets who jump the gun on things to get a scoop, only to get it all wrong.

anyway, nice signing, a bit lower than expected, I was at least expecting 1 way for next year (not that that really matters in the grand scheme of things)

Very nice signing. I still hope he isn't our answer at 3rd LW though. Hopefully this is for him as the 4th line center and we go after another talented winger to replace Mueller.

So that leaves only EJ, Radar and McGinn with how much money to the floor?

I think just under $13 million to get to the floor.

It's 13.5 without Olver (550k), but with Barrie(900k).

By my calculations, we are around $13.5 million under the new cap floor of $54 million. We are at about $9.5 million under what we spent last year. I'll let others check my numbers.

I am still not sure we spend much in free agency. I just don't know, I think the cap floor will drop from $54 million under the new CBA.

Awesome signing, I expect him to have a decent yearning 12-13.

So say EJ gets 4.5, Radar 3.5 and McGinn 2.5 that is 10.5 million. That leaves us 3 million just to get over the floor.

We definitely will be spending tomorrow.

OR: (Because we need a 23 man minimum roster)
Stefan Elliott: 900k
Tyson Barrie: 900k
Joey Hishon: 1.2M

Aaaand Bazinga - JUST at absolute cap floor, no signings required.
