It's only two seasons ago. To me they don't play similar styles.

Fair contract. Love having him back. He is so unique with his combination of grit and underrated offensively hockey sense. Still have that untapped potential since he always plays well until he gets a dumb injury. Hopefully he can take that step and become a number 4 dman.

They are similar in that they both bring a more all around game than a pure shutdown guy or an offensive guy.

Wilson is a more physical though.

And he is severely underrated.. He is young and is better than people here are giving him credit for. People are jumping to conclusions saying this is overpayment. Especially when I can just point at the stat sheet and disprove that by itself.

Good terms, I'm happy to RW back. I was worried the Avs might let him go and re-sign O'Brien, so I'm glad his deal is done. 2m is a pretty fair deal for a 4-6 defender, glad to see the team getting locked up. Fellow Avs fans: probably best to just ignore wej20 and brokebackbulin and move on, doubtful we're going to make any headway.

Edit: Sorry wej I think I misread the comment above, nevermind.

Wilson provides a little bit of everything to the bottom pairing, some offence, decent defence and physicality. Hjalmarsson provides good position defence, shot blocking and PK ability and can make a decent 1st pass.

If Wilson can return to pre-concussion form its a good signing. He's a great hitter, provides decent offense, and is a team guy. Should continue to develop into a top 4 guy

Wilson also ranked 22nd among defenders in Takeaways while having 20 fewer games played and also had a positive TkA vs GvA ratio as well. Most of the best defenders have a fairly even ratio in that area.

His last year in junior..

2007-2008 Sarnia Sting-OHL GP58 G7 A64 P71 PIM84

You realize that 21 points in 59 GP is a 30 point pace right? And it's not exactly unfamiliar territory for him either.

All I am saying is that this is not over payment, and he may have a little more potential than just a bottom pairing role.

Don't see why you're bringing up JR stats, it's not really relevant. That team had Stamkos on it, maybe Stamkos was the reason he had 64 assists, I don't know I didn't follow him in juniors.

With that I'm just saying he has some offensive ability and his PPG pace in prior NHL seasons back that up.

Our GM is a moron.

Re-Signs 3rd pairing guys and lets go of Mueller and McClement.

The caphit is a little high but manageable for a team with that much capspace.

But re-Signing Hunwick and Wilson and letting go of Mueller and McClement?

Completely moronic.

I posted this in the other thread but would you sign McClement who would be our 4th line center for nearly $3 million dollars?

If he had given Jaymac a 4yr/12m contract, you'd be *****ing about how overpaid our 4C was. If McClement's prowess on defense was noticed by the brilliant HF hive-mind, you can bet the GM knows that too, meaning if he's not coming back, there's a reason for it. Whether it was term or caphit, who knows, but this post mostly just looks like a bunch of whining.

...Yea, I'm willing to give Sherman the benefit of the doubt. He has brought in EJ, Varlamov, McGinn and Downie in the last few seasons, and all seem like they will be big parts of the future.

I never said that I wanted to give him 4 / 12. but 3 years 8.25 m would have been fine with me. And even 3 / 9m under certain circumstances.

I mean he overpaid for completely expendable guys like Hunwick or McLeod and refused to keep McClement and Mueller.

Muellers QO was 2.5m / 1yr. We ve got enough pluggers. Get rid of McLeod and see what Mueller can do. At worst get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him at the deadline.

I mean we have a bunch of close to NHL ready prospects in Lake Eerieand continue to re-sign our bottom pairing guys and our forward prospect depth is very shallow and we let go of our best PKer and our best PP Pointman. Does anyone of you really believe that we will get one of Suter, Semin or Parise?

Lol our management wont ever spend the kind of money needed to get this done.

I had him at 2.1 in my CapGeek calculator, so about what I was expecting. Glad to see him locked up for a while. He has some awesome potential if you ask me.

Maybe Mcclement doesn't wanna resign here and probably want to go back to the blues? I'm pretty sure Mueller will be signed before July 1 though he's probably just taking a pay cut
