Peter Mueller to NYR

What kind of free agent contract will he get? Surprised that Colorado didn't offer him a QO. I think he could be a guy the Rangers look at as a winger with some upside.

Thoughts?

Would be a great fit. Would rather have Mueller at 3-4 for 1-2 yrs than give up the farm for Nash.

The Avs didn't want to pay the 2.5m it would've cost to quality him

Uh hes not a free agent yet and they can easily qualify him before July 1st. They would be stupid not to.

Nothing has come out about O'Reilly or EJ being qualified do you expect them to hit free-agency?

I can't imagine any team giving him that much money when he's played 32 games in two years and is one hit away from retirement.

If you take Mueller, you have to take Porter as well.

I'd bet he's re-signed for less than 2.5 this week

They still want to keep him, but for less money? Or they want to cut ties completely?

We have no idea.

Dater thinks he's most likely gone, but it's Dater so i'll take it with a grain of salt.

I hope Mueller makes $4M and takes someone to the cleaners.

I think we'll still re-sign him, personally.

I would say this is the most likely scenario, he might get a contract offer with bonuses included.

The only reason I could see them do this is that they either plan to sign him for less or plan on going after another winger for Duchene. (Alex Semin?)

I'm interested, esp. if it's just $$

IF he hits the UFA market, I definitely would not mind the Rangers signing him for 1-2 years @ 2.5-3M. I think, if he stays healthy, he could thrive here. Low risk, high reward potential scenario.

I can see Feaster taking a big risk on this guy since he is 24 and offer him +3 Million on a multi-year deal. Like 9M over 3 years.

Personally I think he will end up on a rich team. Some rich team I think will take a risk on his with a 1-2 year contract guaranteed 2.5m-3m per year, no performance bonuses. If he plays, great, if not, they can afford it, if he plays but is no longer good, AHL. Lower market teams won't be able to match the guaranteed cash that some other teams such as the Rangers can offer.

Dater said everyone BUT Kevin Porter and Peter Mueller were qualified by the Avalanche.

You could make an argument either way. All of us are likely not to find out until he signs somewhere.
