I did not say last year would be the year. However, I think this will be the year....
Chemistry can only get you so far.

I'll say 12th.

7th. Tavares, Capuano's non system solid hockey approach, Streit's rebound, Viz's offensive spark, goalies perform better, Garf Garf gets a top 4 d-man,,,,,we surprise.

Went with 10th which is the median value of where I think we'll really finish, ranging from 8th to 12th.

Don't really know what the Conference as a whole will look like until after silly season so it's real hard to make precise estimates. But I think it's fair to say the Eastern Conference is getting stronger on the expense of the Western Conferece, which of course is bad.

Furthermore the Atlantic also looks awfully strong from an Islander standpoint..

Well, i agree with you bout the division looking strong , but its always been the strongiest division. Even when the isles were kickin butt, they never had an easy win.
I think they are the only team that lacks recognition as well as respect. For example the draft day the top ten players picked all had interviews after they were selected, except Griffin from the isles, why is that. I watched it again, because i thought i missed it. We need to grab two more hard nose, I dont give a crap bout anything, and lets score everytime we touch the puck attitude kind of guys. This team needs to step it up a notch as well as the coach. There is talent their and cant wait to see the young one go at it this summer. We should finish 6th or 7th and go total hard nose like the kings did in the playoffs...

We'll probably be in a big clump of teams, ranked 7th-12th where 1 or 2 points can send you home crying.

15th. Sorry, that's just how I see it as of right now. We don't have the Blue Jackets or the Wild in our conference.

voted 14th.

it's just too strong a draft year, and we are still 3 years away from a new building, to take a leap.

i look for Nabokov, Visnovsky, and Streit to be traded at the deadline, and a big nose-dive to finish the season...

not what i want to see, but what i think is in the cards.

Nice thoughts. However i think our D would have to improve. Even if everything you say was to happen the D needs to get better

We went up 6 pts from 10-11 to 11-12 with 79. I think we do about the same point improvement and finish with around 84-87 points, good enough for probably 11th or 12th.

C'mon, people! Does no one have the balls to join me up at my 5th place (or better!) prediction!?!

It's June! We can be optimistic.

Picked 15th.

I've been so optimistic the past two years and the first 5 games of each season really made me believe this was our time to take off. Just tempering all expectations at this point lol.

If Thompson can help with the early season slump I'm going with anywhere from 10th-7th. But that is a big if!!

I would guesstimate around 12th. Give or take a spot. I don't believe cappy has the ability to make an impact and although the D is slightly better it's not a significant improvement. Pieces are still missing although I believe the Isles reputation will get stronger next year. Need a coach, another scorer, and a shut down d-man. Then they'll get into the playoffs.

Although a lot of things can happen, I currently have us pegged 13th in the east. Internally, we are really going to need big years from Bailey, Okposo and Grabner. Those three are our x-factors and need to take the next step.

Im hoping Garth manages to both add to our offense and grab another quality d man.

Our defense is better. Nabby will start and we dont have any free losses by Montoya and DP. If we can get a legitimate forward to replace P.A or resign P.A and sign someone which would be best. We could make that push to the 8 seed. I expect Bailey Okposo and even JT to play better. Maybe Grabner I don't really know what to expect from him. Hamonic and Andy Mac should improve. If things go right which is a big if there is no reason we can't be a playoff team this season. To do that though we need Wang and Garth to make a couple moves. We really need a 25goal+ forward and another top 4 Dman.

The poll is closed, but keep the conversation going. We'll do another closer to the start of the season.
