Who is the best 3C now that J Staal is a 2C?

Yes in 2-3 playoff games Josefson played 3C. In the other 22 or so, and virutally every other game Zajac was in, Henrique was #3C

I really like Ryan O'Reilly.

Until O'reilly has the body of work that Bolland has, theres no way he can be considered better than him. From what Ive seen, he is very good, but has done nothing to knock Bolland off his mantle.

What about someone who should ordinarily slot as a 3C but was in a higher role most of this past season because of injuries to players normally slotted above him?

O'Reilly, Sutter, or Couturier. Probably Couturier after next season. Bolland is slightly overrated from his playoff exploits, albeit only slightly.

Radar is better than Bolland right now.

Hawk fan agreeing with you.

Come playoff time, though, I'll take Bolland. One of the very best at getting opponents off their game completely.

If we're talking about a 3rd line center who could/should be a top 6, it's Colorado in a landslide.

If we're talking about best at being a 3rd line center, Bolland has lots of traction there.

Joe Pavelski was SJ's third line center two seasons ago, and he may end up in that spot again this season if he isn't traded. He's definitely among the best.

In 10'-11', yeah. Unfortunately his play dipped off offensively since then (excluding the 11'-12' playoffs where he was pretty good) but he's always been solid defensively. It's always great to have a big body PKer like him. He would be the best 4C in the league IMO, which I think he's better suited for. Rangers lack of center depth has him at 3C, where he can fit to a degree, but really doesn't have consistent enough offense to do so.

Stoll, Kelly, and Bolland were the first to come to my mind. Both Stoll and Kelly are whom I said at the end of Pittsburghs season whom I'd want Pittsburgh to sign in free agency to fill the void of Staal leaving. Worked out all to the best in the end in that area with Sutter. But just saying...
