Tavares to Buffalo

I'm bored.

Obviously NYI doesn't want to move Tavares, but let's say he's an egomaniac and simply won't play in Brooklyn for some odd reason.

NYI receives

Vanek : top goalscoring W, 8th most goals since lockout
Roy : low-end 1C
BOTH McNabb and Adam OR BOTH Armia and Pysyk : High-end cheap young talent. McNabb/Adam are NHL ready, Armia and Pysyk need a year.
Enroth : capable young backup already, above average starter potential
2013 1st : deep draft, probably 17-22 pick.

BUF receives

Tavares : True high-end 1C
Nabokov OR Rights to Montoya and PAP and 3rd : replacement for Enroth and value.

Why would the Islanders trade Tavares?

This is an internet message board, let's play make-believe.

if for some reason he wanted out, vanek, 2 1sts and a prospect like armia might get it done. Upside is still huge with tavares, if he was on a better team the the islanders, he would prob be top 3-4 in scoring already.

Do you really think Buffalo would call up NYI and offer that package, I just hate when people feel the need to talk down on people like this. You and I both know this is a package that would never happen for the obvious reason of overpayment....

Why would a team trade their #1LW, #1ishD, a very solid C and their most recent first pick in the draft for Tavares? Even if the value is there (which I don't think it is), how does that help Buffalo?

It's no more ridiculous than dismissing a thought exercise on an internet message board for being unrealistic. Last I checked we weren't all GMs.

I'd trade them all of Buffalo's 2013 draft picks.

I would think Grigorenko and Girgensons would need to be involved as well.

I won't speak behalf of Isles fans as I'm a Ranger fan, but if I were an Islanders fan, I would still say no. He is so valuable to the franchise.

Tavares is good, but he's not worth Vanek, Ennis, Myers, and Grigorenko. That's overpayment. Way too many roster players.

It would have to be something like Vanek, Myers, and a draft pick/prospect for Tavares and a depth defenseman or something.
