i know, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Apparently the players hate escrow.

haha, jeebus.

This league is going down the tubes rapidly. I don't blame the owners too much for trying to stop it.

Maybe they signed them both for $6m to please them, knowing there'll be 10-15% salary rollback, which would save them 500k to 1m?

Don't tell Oilers fans that. They're all convinced he'll only get better.

Not good news today with the NHLPA and NHL, i'm really disappointed that the NHLPA is not taking this seriously.... hate to be negative on this, just think we're heading towards a lockout.

PS camps are supposed to open two weeks from tomorrow.

Eberle's godlike clutch factor cannot be stopped by something as simple, primitive and stupid as facts and data.

Players do not want to take a CUT in pay, NHL say they won't accept a deal without it. (OK, so let's "plan" to get to a 50-50 split, but set a max of $58mm x 30 -- which is the cap "midpoint" -- for 2012-13, and "work down" based on previous season. AND as a concession, decrease UFA age by 2.)

Players want short(er) term deal (think 3-4 years), in case things need to be tweaked; NHL wants longer term (6-10 years). Have a minimum term, and at least 2 year "option" of extension.

It doesn't even matter that all he's done was lead his team to back-to-back 1st overall picks, Eberle's clutch factor is absolute. No one can argue it.

He clearly scored all of those goals whenever the Oilers needed them. Every single one was a game tying or game winning goal. He's better than guys like Ovechkin, Marleau, Parise, D. Sedin, Sharp, Datsyuk and on par with guys like Thornton, Hossa and Kopitar. I mean look at his points last season compared to those guys last season!

Totally, not like he plays pillow-soft minutes and gets huge offensive zone starts and still has a negative adjusted Corsi while all the guys you mentioned are possession beasts or anything like that. Totally worth more. He scored like 82 game-winning goals, he should get paid more than Ovechkin, that pylon.

Watch out for him in the playoffs! I mean usually he's watching them on TV so you can't really actually see him, but man oh man. If he was out there playing? Conn Smythe winner every year. What he did in the World Juniors is very relevant when talking about the NHL playoffs.

Avalanche announce that Gabriel Landeskog has been named team captain. This makes him the youngest captain in NHL history

Also a slap to the face of Crosby, who would have kept the "youngest captain in history" distinction if Avs waited a mere 12 days to announce it
