Actually, I would take a flier. Worst case scenario, he goes on waivers and either gets claimed (no longer an issue) or goes to the AHL (where's he been a PPG defenseman).

Had 7 points in 7 playoff games a few years ago.
we have enough big defensive defenceman in our prospect pool, Gragnani can contribute on defence.

I'd love to acquire Kulikov but I don't know if we have the right pieces to get it done.

As a restricted free agent, Gragnani did not receive a qualifying offer by Monday's deadline and becomes an unrestricted free agent.

A decent offensive defenceman project.
I'd be on board with that. He's an oustanding AHL-level dman that would provide good depth, even if he is kind of an AHL/NHL tweener. My Nucks friends were quite surprised that he wasn't tendered a contract offer, especially after AV played him enough games to cancel out his group VI UFA status...yet they make him a UFA anyway.

Unfortunately I think he'd be more likely to try up a year or two of Europe/KHL at this point, he's really got nothing left to prove in the AHL.

Some are also valuing Gudbranson over Kulikov in Florida, Kulikov would be awesome, bring back Grebeshkov?

Where's Hemsky? Mueller is too injury-prone.

In the Hockey News Yearbook this past season, he was listed as a centre.

How about acquiring Paul Martin?

Obviously he had a poor year, however if he can come cheaply he would be a valuable upgrade. Personally I don't understand the hate he endears on these boards, but he has been a workhorse defensemen since 2007.

I don't know what it would take, if the pens get Suter, it could be very low. Do we get them to take some money back?

Would you trade Ales Hemsky for him, or is that an overpay?

We already did. Daniil Zharkov says he's better than Yakupov, and I believe they've been hanging out in Edmonton this week.

No, that would be an over payment, I can't wait until Hemsky has a good year so everyone can eat crow.

Martin for Hemsky would have been a disgraceful trade. Tambo would have signed his walking papers there and then.

Zharkov won't be playing this year in the NHL. Yakupov will be. Khabibulin is also way older than Yakupov I'm not sure how much they will relate to one another.

Trading our 3rd best RW for a guy who will be our #1 d-man is a bad trade in what universe?

#1 d-man? In what universe? The PM was ridiculed and harassed on the Pens forum all season. To boot he's overpaid and has got three years left on his contract.

On our team, he would be the #1 d-man. Please tell me who on our current roster would be ahead of him.

He was a #1 d-man for years in New Jersey and solid as a rock. Is he overpaid? Absolutely. But I'd rather take that 5 million over the next 3 years than pay Dennis Wideman or Matt Carle 5.5 million over the next 6 years.

Smid and Petry, easily. I've watched enough of the Penguins to be confident in being firm in that belief.

Schenn or no Schenn, Toronto was going to be high on Schultz and vice versa.

But removing a shutdown guy when you've got 8 NHL D doesn't exactly create a spot for an offensive guy.
