I'm pretty much indifferent to this news. Wish him luck in Washington.

He did interview for the job in Washington, but missed out. He needs to do something in the meantime, staying in the NHL as an assistant coach wouldn't be the worst thing for him.

I work directly for Haviland's brother. I'll see if I can get any inside info, but no promises.

Inside info? You`re fully responsible if Lou doesn`t bring him here!

Won't miss him honestly. Too stubborn. Have fun playing head games with Ovechkin tho.

No need to backfill - plenty of assisting already present.

Not sure how much it means, but I'm glad he's still talking like he's planning to be a member of the team next year.

I would just read it as him saying "us" because right now, he still is a Devil.
Congrats to Oates. Best of luck, except against NJD.

Lamoriello said the Devils may also lose Larry Robinson to retirement or as roving instructor. The GM said Robinson hasn't made a decision.

Is Stevens ready (family-wise) to take on full-time asst role?

But who will oversee our faceoff losses and goal-less powerplays next season?

How is George doing? He is working on opening a rink in Middletown right near the swim club.

My heart skipped for a second.

Also, I hope Larry stays and continues mentoring Larsson.

Oh, I don't like that. I want Larry to stay and mentor Larsson some more.

yeah Larsson needs big bird 1 more year before leaving the nest and flying solo. Or maybe a camp of Larry and an stare or three from Stevens running the D.

If Larry isn't an AC next year would not surprise me to see Tommy A back up here as the D coach - swede connection is a plus as well

Alexander Ovechkin called Adam Oates. Said he's happy that Oates like offense. OV: "it's not bloking the shots and dump and chase anymore."

In other words: **** you Hunter.

Let`s keep Larry though. There`s no better AC in this world. Perfect mentor for Larsson.

Wow, you're not kidding, that is a pretty big **** you to Hunter.

Although we did do a lot of dump and chase here, so Ovechkin might be disappointed.

That`s Pete`s style of coaching more than Oatsie`s though.

EDIT:

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
If Robinson does retire from full-time coaching, I would imagine he'd stay in Devils' organization, return to special assignment coach role.

More than fine by me. Just keep him around Larsson, that`s all.

Classic Lou:

Quote:
Lamoriello would not discuss whether he will hire someone to fill Oates’ spot or just go with the assistants that he already has.

“Until that’s done, you won’t know what we’re doing,” Lamoriello said. “Once the staff is complete or solidified, everybody will know.”
