Idk how to post a link because I am on my phone, but Adam Oates has been named the new head coach of the Capitals.

Bummer.
I was going to put Washington on top of my list of hated teams with Ribeiro + Ovechkin and the fact they took us out, but now I'm on the fence.
Oh well... I'll just keep all the hate for the Habs and Vancouver.

Has to be THE quietest 1000+ pt man out there ever.
Loved Adam, lucky enough to have met him during an alumni weekend at RPI as my pops is an Alumni, who shares a place in the RPI HOF with Oates and many others

Good for Adam. He's got some formidable weapons on that bench.

Wayt to go Oates, not a bad day, named head coach and HHOF.

Congratulations to smart, smart player who was a pleasure to watch. Underrated. Deserves HHOF, too.

He's going to be a very good coach, and an added bonus is that Washington is probably going to be a lot more fun to watch, like how they were 3-4 years ago.
Oates only became an NHL assistant in 2009 so he's had a pretty quick rise through the ranks.

So happy he got into the HOF!
Parise had some nice comments about him leaving NJ. Bet he lasts a full season and maybe even be nominated for a Jack Adams.

What a playmaker he was. Not too shaby in the faceoff dot either.
The Devils were actually fairly uptempo, I wonder if that means the Caps will return to a more uptempo style, I would think so which could be good news for them and bad news for the rest of the east.

to those who think he's going to help the Caps w/ faceoffs and offensive output, I've actually come across NJ fans glad to see him go. Their faceoff numbers and PP sucked with him coaching them. Kind of funny that his on-ice skills didn't seem to translate in those areas.
