Which is why I say put a guarantee to him that if the team moves, that Doan gets to choose where he wants to go, and the team might not get what he is valued in a return. I would collaborate with the agent and Doan(if this was allowed, I'm not sure it is though), and find out Doan's value in the eyes of other teams, and build a contract around that. But the only problem is the future of the salary cap and how much he might hit that for another team he might want to go to.

Today is the projected D-Day. Think anything will come of today or is this just another threat?

Now that Doan is meeting with other teams and has reportedly told some teams that he was talking to that he's no longer interested I think this is more than just 'another' deadline. With CoJo out of the picture there isn't really anything left this summer that would stand in the way of Jamison getting a deal done, so either he shows his hand or Doan is out the door is my guess at this point. Maybe they're waiting on the CBA but if that's the case Doan is as good as gone. My gut feeling now, Doan is now actively narrowing his choices down to one other team, besides ours, at which point he'll give Jamison one last chance to play ball, before he moves on. I've become very pessimistic about the outcome of all this at this point.

All I hope for Doaner at this point is for him to get a big payday and win the cup. I've given up on his staying a Coyote. I think it'd be a mistake for him to keep waiting.

Outside of the Dustin Brown issue, the Kings would be a great fit.

I agree, and it would be close enough for him to be home alot more without having to relocate his family..

As much as I would hate to see shane in anything but a coyote jersey, I agree with this. Doan deserves to win the cup.

Just wanted to say..

Wherever Doan goes, they are gonna be my favorite team next year not name Coyotes. I'm gonna root for him and his team like hell to win the cup.

Wasn't there talk that both Brown and Doan have gotten over what took place in the WCF?

Brown is actually a very down-to-earth guy, despite his on ice behavior.

I remember after the Doan/Brown fight in the regular season, Doan said something to the effect of: "I love the way Brownie plays and would love to have him on my team."

They are both way beyond it and have been since shortly after it happened. The only people who think that they would never play together because of it seem to think, 'well I'm not over it therefore they must hate each other as well.'

Ding Ding Ding

We have a winner!!!!

LA still makes the most sense for him to sign with if he doesn't sign with the Coyotes.

The only reason doan leaves is if the deal with Jamison doesn't look good. So yes id say they go hand in hand

Your friend and mine, Dave Shoalts of the Globe and Mail has this to say:

Quote:
Shane Doan wants $30-million over four years if he leaves Phoenix Coyotes, source says. That will scare off more than Detroit Red Wings...There are teams willing to pay Doan $7-million for one year (maybe two) but he'll be 36 by start of season so 4 yrs is scary...All that being said, same source says someone will cough up a four-year deal for Doan in $7-m range...

Bottom line is, if Doan signs elsewhere, and the decision is not about only the money, then the Coyotes are done here in Phoenix. I continue to question whether Jamison has the money. At this point, I think not.

I've seen the $ 30M figure throw around over the past couple of weeks, with no real source I could find. I personally won't believe it until it actually happens. That seems like an outlandish figure for a 36 year old guy who's never had a point per game season.

EDIT

Ah, well, never count Winninpeg out I guess. I'm sure the fans would love it. No way it's going to happen though.

Doan's agent confirmed last week that it was not Winnipeg that offered Doan 4 years, 30 million. He also confirmed that Winnipeg has not made any offers for Doan.
