Nash for Luongo

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Nash or the Luongo thread, so I put it here. My proposal is:

To Columbus: Luongo, Raymond, Jensen, 2013 1st
To Vancouver: Rick Nash

Why Nash waives his NMC: wants to go to a contender, Vancouver are a contender
Why Luongo waives his NTC: seems to dislike the pressure of hockey crazy cities, wants to get closer to his family (in Florida) and play in a less hockey mad place. AFAIK Columbus to Miami is only about a 2 hour flight, and there would be less pressure there. It's not quite Florida (his top choice), but it seems like a pretty decent compromise

Why Columbus does this: Nash wants out, and they need a #1 goalie BADLY. They get their #1 goalie, they get a decent roster forward in Raymond, a pretty good prospect in Jensen, and a 1st round pick. That's a pretty good return IMO
Why Vancouver does this: Luongo will be traded regardless, Nash gives them a player who could seriously improve their cup chances. Could look great on a line with the Sedins or with Kesler

Luongo has a NTC and even with your reasoning I don't see him waiving to play for the CBJ

Replace Jensen+ our 1st with Booth + 2nd. I'd love Nash, but I don't want to sell the farm for him.

But Luongo won't waive for Columbus, and they just traded for Brobovsky. This ship has sailed.

What's up with the whole deal about Luongo not liking hockey crazy cities. When did he say that?

1)With Luongo being the main piece, I think he's to old for a return for Nash. I think Howson wants someone younger to fit into the rebuild.

2)Luongo would probably say no but the Blue Jackets goalie coach is former Canuck coach, Ian Clark. He could talk to Luongo and apparently Luongo liked him and was disappointed when he was fired from the Canucks.

3)Gillis coud be a dick to Luongo. The trade would be Nash for Raymond, Jensen, 1st rounder and simply put Luongo on waivers. Oh, look who has first pick, Columbus.

This is interesting in principle but I don't think it's the kind of deal Columbus wants, probably not what Luongo really wants (at least Florida made the playoffs last season, for example), and though Nash would be ridiculous in Vancouver they probably aren't maximizing their assets here.

So we have an official Nash thread, and official Luongo thread, but somewhat this proposal doesnt belong there?

They did it for the same reason Tampa bay acquired Lindback and for the same reason Toronto traded for JVR: to be a part of a Luongo trade

I dont see any reason Lu waives at this point for columbus.

Toronto or Florida. That is it.

If vancouver keeps him and he is the backup to schneider, then maybe the door opens to more locations, but we're miles away from that scenario at the moment.

I love Nash

but he's making 7.8/year

I want him.. but Jensen is a deal breaker. Jensen has shown a lot of promise. Cup contending teams need players on ELCs contributing in this cap-era.

Sad as I am to say it, that trade is a step in the wrong direction.

As much as I wish we could land Nash for Lu, it's not gunna happen. Luongo's not gunna waive his NTC to go to CBJ. It's really Toronto, Florida and MAYBE Tampa Bay.

Funny.

I did a a Nash/Luongo swap thread and it was locked because it wasn't in the existing Nash thread or Luongo thread.
