Where does Marcus Kruger start the year?

Come opening day, what role do you think Marcus Kruger has (if any) with the Blackhawks?

Hopefully not on the big club. However, Stan will probably peg him at 2 center again. I bet Hossa can't wait to get back for that! Lol!

Hopefully he is not given more responsibility than he can handle again.

You need a hopefully back in the weak SEL where a Charmin like player such as him belongs.

I dont care where so long as its not in the NHL with the Hawks or on the Hogs when I have ST's.

Unless someone forces Q to change his mind (Bowman, Kane, Pirri, etc.), he'll probably start on the 2nd line.

He should be starting on the 3rd or 4th line, but I don't see that happening.

dude put up 26 points in 71 games last season in his first full season on this ice. Also was very small and playing all over the lineup. Hopefully he bulked up a little this off-season and works on not falling down all the time. I can see him putting up 40 points in an 82 game season next season if he played the whole time on the 2nd line with Hossa and Sharp. Actually more than that, but I don't feel like getting flamed by all the haters

Lol every time I come to the Hawks board, there's a thread about Kruger or a thread which has turned into a Kruger thread. Don't wanna go of a guy with that potential no matter how frustrating he is or "balance issues."

I'd say the 3rd line is perfect for him.

^^^^^

He's not strong enough, good enough on the dot, good enough along the boards, enough of an agitator, and good enough defensively to be our 3C.

I expect him to start the year as our 4C.

I'd have him in Rockford.

I figure 3rd line wing. If Hossa is healthy I can't see why Q doesn't go back to the Carcillo/Kane/Hossa line.

I picked 3rd line wing b/c I'm being optimistic.

However, I cannot forget the year end press conference where Stan said he saw Kane at centre and Q insisted that he saw Marcus there...so I fear it will back to 2C for Marcus.

Kruger looked good on Swedens third line with Stalberg ,Just saying. You don't have to be 6,4 240 to be good at defense Bolland was NEVER a big guy.

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Saad-Bolland-Hossa
Stalberg-Kruger-Shaw

Yea but Bolland is good on the boards, a much better positional d man that Kruger, a great agitator, hits and while not good at faceoffs is still better than Kruger.

Kruger is better on bigger ice where he has more time to think, the game is less physical and against lesser talent.

Kruger saw more draws in the defensive zone than he did in the offensive zone last year, was given tougher than average matchups and he still managed to have a positive CORSI, which means the Hawks attempted more shots while he was on the ice than their opposition did. That's an incredibly impressive feat for a rookie.

No matter what you idiots keep on telling yourselves, he's a pretty good player.

Corsi is so stupid.

Also, it may have to do with the fact that Kruger's linemates were, largely, top 6 caliber, not necessarily kruger himself.

Using your eyes shows the real story.

Stats just don't tell the story in a sport like hockey.

I agree that Kruger had a decent rookie year...and I also think he's a pretty good player. My main issue is that I don't think right now he's an effective answer at 2C.

I do think the people who keep insisting he's going to get a lot bigger have to be more reasonable in their expectations. He's already 22 and while I don't doubt he can add more muscle his size isn't going to increase by a tonne and he's certainly not getting taller.

The stats and the coaching staff seem to agree with my eyes. Maybe you should reevaluate yours.

Krüger will start as #2 Center AS OF NOW.

I would prefer him as #4 Center with a proven #2 acquired via trade

That coaching staff was one to be admired last year.

I still don't understand why people would want him centering the 4th line...
-He's not good at faceoffs
-He's not good enough along the boards
-He's not tough enough

Having a small, weak positional defender center your 4th line is not ideal.
