Minnesota on College UFA Justin Schultz's Short List - Signs with Eddy
Quote:
Strongly led to believe MIN, as in Wild, are in on shortlist for UFA dman Justin Schultz. That would make 6 teams we know of. Maybe more?

Now there are 3 free agents over whom we can be disappointed when they sign with DET/PIT instead of us.

Makes sense...he's looking to play for a team where he would be guaranteed Top 4 minutes....although, I'm not sure I approve of the way he and his agent are going about this....
But that's not to say I wouldn't be stoked to see him sign....

Rookie max: something like $925k + bonuses...I'm sure squids can fill in the blanks.

Expressing me pretty well. A stupid smirk got stuck on my face and I didn't know what to think. Either way, even if Minnesota is on that notorious shortlist, it still probably doesn't mean much. Gotta stay positive, though

Hey, I'm just happy to say we made it and Detroit didn't. AHA!

Detroit is not on his short list, that was released this morning. No word either way on Pittsburgh, but considering how many big name prospects they have for the blue line, I'm doubtful they'd be a high choice.

A year. I edited too late. But since he is older, he qualifies for only 2 years of ELC rather than the normal 3.

I think thats because he didn't play all 82 games and like Jeremy Walsh's cap hit that skews things when you don't play the full year.

if we sign suter i honestly don't care if we dont get parise. we have young promising players ready to take over very soon.
if we got both suter & and Schultz? It would be a very good Free agent year, IF we got all 3? best free agency that will ever happen in minnesota.

Max salary is $925k salary plus $2.85MM bonuses. It's important to note that teams may utilize the bonus cushion (when in effect, which I'm not certain on its status this year) to push up to 7.5% of a year's overage into the next season. That's to say, a Schultz $3.775MM contract would only count as $925k against our cap this year if we needed it to.
