Oh and Konopka doesn't fight, he wrestles or whatever you want to call it, that's not fighting

Outside of faceoffs, Konopka is an awful player, plus do you want to have his sister sing the anthem again ?

Just a heads-up:
fighting ≠ toughness.

If we don't re-sign Carkner, of course we're going to drop off in the "fighting" category". It doesn't mean we can't bring in some toughness to replace him with, though.

I'd be pretty pissed if we signed Tootoo. I hate that guy.

Its really insulting actually that you would lump Neil in with Konopka.

Having said that, I fully support bringing Carkner back as a #7. He is valuable. Konopka not so much. There's just no room and the new faceoff rules make him less valuable. Smith will have to untuck his sack and take on that role.
You're correct that Konopka and Neil shouldn't be lumped together, however I was just implying they don't have the same effect as Carkner. Opposing players don't think "I'm going to avoid elbowing Erik Karlsson because Chris Neil is on the Senators". I'm not denying Neil is valuable, he is, and he's one of the best hitters in the game. But he never destroys people in fights like Carkner is capable of doing (How many faces have we seen Carkner mess up in his time in Ottawa?), which is why Carkner is one of the most feared fighters in the league. You can't debate this. There are probably only 3 other fighters that are as feared and that is Steve MacIntyre, Brian McGratton, and Colton Orr.. And none of them can take a regular shift without looking out of place like Carkner.

Has Tootoo taken one cheap shot since he got back from rehab and being on the sauce?

Anyone know why this meathead is still replying to my posts? I've literally never seen anyone with less knowledge in anything try to pass themselves off as presenting legitimate points.

I saw that PA Parenteau possible signing two months ago. The guy is from Hull and was drafted by the Murray's in Anaheim.

I'm still hoping for Penner as he's bigger with cup experience.

I would let Winnie walk. I honestly think SOB is a more complete player for the 4C spot even if he's not as good on the face off dot. I would also let Daugavins walk.

I would try to keep Carkner and Konopka as both of them brings toughness, leadership and can probably fill the role of 13th forward and 7th defenseman without complaining. Beside, Zenon is a better face off guy than Winnie.

I would try to get for a top 4 D to play with EK. I think the best option is through the trade route. The Hjalmarsson rumor is really tempting. I would definately trade Regin, Butler and Bishop for him.

So Eklund is reporting that considering the financial situation in NJ and the desire to re-sign Parise to a long-term deal.. that Kovalchuk coud be trade bait...

If you read the post I was quoting (or even my post really...), you'd see I was referring to him saying "Allen certainly would have dropped the gloves to go after Boyle".

No, but unless we bring in someone even close to as intimidating as him, or with as intimidating a presence (not Allen, laughable), our tea, toughness will be hurt big time. It's a simple concept to understand, and after you left the last Carkner thread with your tail between your legs I'm surprised you wanted to re-open the debate. Your assertion that Allen can somehow replace his toughness is laughable at best.

You forgot the "E4" there.

I'm mixed on Tootoo. I love energy guys like that, but is he really a guy you can send out there to protect a one goal lead late? IIRC, he isn't renowned for his defensive game. If he is just a dancing bear you send out to fire up the crowd and annoy the opposition, then I question his value. Someone is going to overpay Tootoo for what he brings, and I suspect it won't be Ottawa.

hmmm, well that sucks. He would have looked really nice on our second pairing. Probably wouldn't have wanted to come anyways though.

Damn, cross another one off the list. We better make a serious pitch for Garrisson.

Sure thing, however, there seems to be a lot of posters that agree with my POV, so I consider myself legitimized and you a JO ....btw, I am still replying to your posts because you are like a boyle that needs popping

I hope that Wideman signing doesn't mean JBo is up for grabs. I don't like play in the defensive zone. Keep him out of Ottawa.
