From a previous post of mine regarding drafting:

.....or doing the same as he's done every year.

Reilly BC
Finn ONT
Brown ONT
Rupert ONT

Percy ONT
Leivo ONT
Broll ONT
Robertson BC

Ross ALTA
McKegg ONT
Carrick ONT
Nicholls BC

Kadri ONT
Blacker ONT
Devane ONT

54% of his picks have been Canadian.

39% of his picks have been from Ontario.

73% of his Canadian picks have been from Ontario.

Cherry should have done some more research.

Don't know about that that type of player isn't a team need. Wolski for Mueller has to be the most even trade ever made.

Actually If I recall, Maloney was hesitant but knew Mueller needed a change of scene and wasn't going well with the organization. Sherman wanted wolski off for a while. At that time yea it was a fairly even one but Wolski was always the bigger risk as he just fell of the grid and fell asleep on the ice it seemed, while Mueller just hit a series of injuries which just held him back.

Why would Smyth demand a trade from LA to Edmonton to rejoin his favourite team and leave in the off-season to come to Toronto?

I'm envisioning Smyth taking a big discount to stay an Oiler for life.

I agree with you LeafRocket, not sure what Mess' point is about this American tangent.

Is it BPA or Best Canadian Available?

I just don't even come close to grasping the idea behind needing a Canadian heavy roster.

Remember when Cherry kept going on and on about how a team with a Euro captain will never win a Cup? Yeah, that was back in the year 2008. Since then, Detroit won is with SWE Lidstrom. Boston won it with SVK Chara. And now USA Brown won it with LA.

And the Red Wings of 2008 had the majority of Team Sweden on it's roster, and were only missing the Sedin twins from the top 6.

The Red Wings had 12 Swedes and 12 Canadians. And they won the Cup. Amazing.

What's even more important to consider is that the REASON Detroit had so many Swedes is because their scouts felt it was a largely untapped resource and they invested a lot more than other teams into scouting the SEL and found draft day steals where no one else was looking.

Burke has a lot of faith in the USNTDP and consequently nabs a few guys every year from that pool.

this American argument is ridiculous who the hell cares where the player is form?? JR and Modano were American and I would've loved to have those two on my team in their hayday. This is so overplayed and ridiculous its becoming a sort of witch hunt against the American players. It's complete and utter bigotry. What say you of an American born leaf fan? I have American friends who are better fans of the Leafs then some of the "self-acclaimed smart" Ontario ones.....

NHL.com is reporting that Marty Brodeur may test free agency on Sunday.

My question to you guys is: Do you think that Marty would be someone you would like to have as a free agent? I think he's got a good year, maybe two in him, and I think that he could prove to be extremely valuable in the raising of our young goaltenders.

My vote would be 100% in favour of signing Marty to a 1-2 yr contract. Discuss.

If he wanted to come here.. Throw the money at him..

He can easily steal games late in the season when it's 1-0, 2-1 games. The guy still has it and a team showing confidence in him by throwing money at him would help his game even more. Give him a 2 year / 13 million for all I care. He'll help Reimer more then anyone could..

I would absolutely love Brodeur on the Leafs, but I don't see him leaving New Jersey to come to Toronto for his last year in the league.

Its garbage & the people who are smart know that it is. Any arguement about the nationality of the players having any relevance on team success is ridiculous. At the end of the day, its about the quality of the player.

Wow if brodeur wants to come... Then give him what he wants. Its perfect. Riemer plays 30 games brodeur can mentor and play the 50-40 games needed. Mentored under brodeur is priceless. Easily a playoff contention team with brodeur

im not 100% convinced BUT if he does go i could see Washsington and Boston as front runners!

i would offer him 2 years $10M... Not sure he would come hear for that but that's just what my offer would be.
