4th in the league in hits among forwards.
You sure you were watching?
I watched from the end of october to the end of jan. and I can tell you out right the guy was a ghost for most of the season. So many of those rub outs (thats right, rub outs along the boards) were nothing near the reputation so many on here speak of.
"I know you weren't watching"!

The +5 proves nothing. Neither does the 25 in 74. Considering his mistakes sometimes changed the pace of games (without him on the ice) as other shifts spent a great deal of time in the defensive zone due to his mistakes.
(Once again, are you sure you were watching, I know you weren't, your basing your opinion off of stats and reputation, but hey, don't let a little thing like reality get in your way)

No sarcasm, spend this season watching 3.5 to 4.5 months of his brand of hockey, then come talk to me.
DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Mike Heika, during a live chat with his readers on Tuesday, believes if the Stars were to pursue a big name UFA this summer, they would overpay for Zach Parise, but not for Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter. He also feels the club would want a young center in return for Steve Ott. He also feels Buffalo’s Derek Roy would be a consideration as a trade target, and believes Colorado’s Paul Statsny could be had.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Bear in mind, Heika was only offering his opinion regarding Parise and Suter and wasn’t stating the Stars intended plans. The Stars could be a “dark horse” in this summer’s UFA market, as their new ownership has suggested his club could be active this summer.
I like Roy and Adam for Ott, it might be a bit of an overpayment but it's two players we don't need for the third line center we do need. I also think it's a deal Dallas can't refuse, they need scoring line centers and we need a 3rd line center. I like Steve Ott's game though, so I might be biased.

The we have no veteran center for either the first or second line. Roy and Adam for Ott is a pretty big overpayment.
I'm not against getting rid of Roy for the right price, but we have to also make sure it doesn't hurt the team. If Roy is moved, it has to be in part of a package for a veteran center, or a veteran 1/2 center has to be coming in as part of another deal.
A decent prospect plus a pick could possibly get Ott.
