I think he is pretty underrated around here for what he can bring to the table. There is no reason he couldn't have a bounce back year playing 3rd line minutes.

Called it.

Comeau is awful. Terrible contract. Only redeeming factor is that it's only for one year.

Would rather leave roster spot open for a prospect in the Flames system.
However, for 1 yr @ $1.25m, it's low risk.

This signing is fine. Comeau will be decent on the 3rd line. Its 1 year, and its a paltry 1.5m. Its not a great deal, but we didn't get ripped off or anything.

3/140ths of the salary cap isn't awful by any stretch.

meh, about what I expected. I was a big fan of Comeau a couple years ago, even stocked up on his rookie cards. But after seeing him night in, night out last season, I'm not as passionately in his corner. But considering he's a season removed from 24 goals, I can accept $1.25-1.5m, whichever it is.

Splitting hairs, but that's even better. Consider this - he's a year removed from scoring 20 goals in this league; that's saying something. He'll be playing harder for a longer term contract next season, that could be good for us as well.

As an aside, he really reminds me of Robert Reichel when he first came to the Flames. Always oh-so-close but could never buy a goal. Then one day, he just started scoring.

Low risk high reward. If he bounces back then the contract was a great deal. If not we got him for nothing and that is minimal against the cap and gone in a year.

Wow, Comeau gets it hard around here. He is a serviceable 3rd liner and one of our few forwards who could actually knock someones block off with a body check. I like it.

Good signing. He will help our young guys like Backlund and Baertschi with his size and style of play. And this is coming from a guy that is a non Comeau fan. Would of preferred Mueller though.

I don't know why people are ripping on this contract. It's the shortest term you can think of, and the salary is also very reasonable.

Don't mind this signing at all. It's one year and a low cap hit for a guy that has potential to try to get back into a decent scorer (Don't think it will happen but it could). Also I thought he was good on the PK so I'm happy he is back.

I, too, am fine with the re-signing. The cap hit is extremely low, and hopefully this contract motivates Comeau to be a more productive player.

This is not bad at all; I'm not a huge Comeau fan, but this is a great contract.
Good money for a guy who can be a fourth/third liner...

It's funny again, how much hate this signing is getting on TSN and everywhere else haha.

Seems about right for 3/4 energy player. It also has substantially less risk for the team and may provide a lot of motivation for Blake to get his payday back next summer.

Agreed. Comeau must be really motivated since he turned down a multi year deal that Feaster offered him.
