Bold 2012-2013 flames predictions

Here is a few of mine:

Cammalerri regains his old flames form and leads the flames in points.

Max Reinhart makes the flames out of training camp.

Tj Brodie takes a major step in his development and becomes the #3 D-man in calgary.

Kipper gets injured early in the season and the flames are left with a duo of Karllson and Irving, who surprise everyone and keep the flames in the race.

Cervenka struggles in his first NHL season and finishes the year in abbotsford.

Matt stajan regains his 60 pt form from his days in toronto and finishes the year as the 2C.

Backlund sets career high in points and goals while playing on a line with baertchi.

AND finally the flames finish 7th and MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, but are eliminated In the second round by the… sharks? But still people in Calgary are satisfied that the flames made the playoffs AND made eliminated the Canucks in the first round ; )

Those are a few of mine, anyone else got any?

I'll make my predictions when I watch the draft + free agent frenzy.
Until then, I'm not saying anything.

If we more or less go with this team we have, I expect another 9-11th finish, rinse + repeat.

Predictions for 2012-2013:

1) Flamesarmstrong22 makes more "helpful" threads
2) J-bo has a strong year under a new coach who utilizes him properly
3) Iginla continues to impress, and nets over a PPG
4) We see one of the core players shipped off either at the trade deadline or upcoming draft

Not a bad thread at all. But let's not extrapolate that and chase the record books with a" 50 threads in 50 minutes" record. lol, just teasing.

I'll make some now, and then more after the draft and July 1st.

1. Jokinen signs for a Tangs type deal

2. Cervenka doesn't have this glamous Flames career and either sits in the press box for a while or sits on the fourth line for a bit (tenative prediction).

3. Flames are very active at F.A

4. Flames make a very unusual selection with 1st overall, possibly by selecting a lower ranked prospect like M. Finn over a guy like Maatta.

5. Flames make a trade at the draft

I love all of it except the Tanguay prediction. Let's just replace that with "7. Flames take the division and go on to win the Stanley Cup".

Amirite?

But seriously, let's not do that. A certain poster could look at that the wrong way and perhaps read: 1) Flamesarmstrong22 makes more *adjective* threads

Going to try and be a little less... optimistic with my predictions, but mostly optimistic nonetheless:

-Smith is unable to perform at the level he did before his injury last season. Is a healthy scratch for much of the season. (obviously I hope this doesn't happen)
-Clay Wilson then takes over Smith's spot. (I thought he did an admiral job in his call-ups last season)
-After being totally mishandled in the previous two seasons, Stajan gets solid top 6 minutes and eclipses 45 points to show that he is not totally useless.
-Max Reinhart impresses in camp as a solid, young, two-way centre. Gets top 9 minutes and finishes with 25 points (not all 82 games played). Finishes with the highest +/- on the team.
-Tanguay is finally appreciated by Flames fans and seen as a good, creative player who puts up solid numbers on a quality contract.

No longer will I make predictions as to where the Flames finish in the standings. All I ask is for progression and development from the players that are expected to do so.

It also seems that every time I predict something, the exact opposite happens. So expect Smith to keep his spot on the team, expect Stajan to get 4th line minutes and 20 points, expect Reinhart to play the entire season in Abbotsford, and expect Tanguay to continue to go unappreciated.

Alright I will give it a go:

Roman Cervenka out produces one of the big 3 (Tanguay, Iginla, Cammalleri) with a large portion of his points coming on the PP.

T.J. Brodie finishes with 35 points

We do not see any prospect not named Baertschi making a significant impact for the flames this season.

We trade an NHL defenseman (Babchuk, Bouwmeester, or Giordano)

Calgary's PP finishes top 8 in the league.

One of Iggy or Cammalleri finishes with 35+ goals

I love Alex Tanguay. He's going to have a great year probably.
Never understood these people who hate on him, he's one of our most rounded players.

I predict...........

Flames fans find a new whipping boy if Bouwmeester or Stajan are traded
The fans have more ups and down than an "actress" in an adult film
HFBoards will declare the Flames suck and should rebuild irregardless of how the team performs and the moves that are made
HF boards will tell us our prospect pool is the worst in the NHL "AINEC"
