$26 million over 5 years for Wideman is the funniest thing I've heard in a long long time. I hope it happens. #whatajoke

That scares me because Shero wants a #1 Defenseman to play with Letang.

Hopefully all the other GMs just laugh this off because it's Feester and they keep things resonable.

And, we are going through the HF tradition of bashing every UFA signing unless the player takes a massive paycut.

Calgary would have been better off paying Jordan Henry 5.25 million a year.

This doesnt make his contract look better at all. Lu's contract has a great cap hit, it's the length that makes it bad.

Do you even watch hockey during the regular season or just wait till the draft.

I dont think CGY would have been the only team to offer him that.....UFA is thin and Widman was near the top

This guy was so bloody TERRIBLE in the playoffs...though the Flames probably won't make the post-season so I guess that wasn't an overwhelming concern.

I think it's bad simply because I dont think Wideman is a very good player.

But the cap hit seems about right to me. I dont think people realize that salaries go up as the cap gets higher...

If the cap is at 70, then 5mil for Wideman is not unreasonable.

Who the hell would want Bouwmeester and his contract? Not to mention the guy has the personality of a doorknob (no offense)

What team would is going to take Bouwmeester with that awful contract though? (unless there's a team like last year's Panthers that needs to do something drastic to get to the cap floor)

Taking a guess, he probably took a bump up in what his open market contract would be (4.5M open market? at a 67-70M cap.. expected) to sign with CGY before hitting UFA status.

I still see Garrison/Carle at 4M-4.5M

I really do not like the Flames, but this isn't the ludicrous and disastrous move that people are trying to make it out to be. Cap hit is fine consider how the cap is, but the length is rather questionable. They've also got some good prospects now so I don't think the comparisons with the post-lockout Leafs are apt. Quit drinking the HF koolaid, people. I wonder what their pairings look like with him. Maybe they're getting ready to move someone?
