Anywhere but Philly. Anything that will make Holmgren scream so loud that we'll be able to hear him all the way up here in NY.

The Ryan idea is nice but he's going to cost more in assets than Nash. Flyers are just antsy doubt they get Nash and if they do I look forward to beating them six times again next season, their defense is still brutal.

So far from what i've seen he will cost less. But the assets needed for the trade are different. Stepan would probably have to be included. Total package may be less though

A forward (stepan or kreider) has to go back for either one especially Ryan they don't have to trade him.

Why wouldn't Philly be looking for D?

Dumb.

They'll go hard after Garrison and Suter.

Depending on what they give up how does it weaken their team? I agree the D is brutal

With Nash's cap hit, will they be able to swing it?

I'm guessing the Flyer interest in Nash is likely Holmgren trying to force the Rangers to overpay for Nash. Unless he's willing to move Couturier or BSchenn, I don't see what the Flyers have that would deem any talks for Nash to be serious.

Not if they get Nash, they only have 11 Mill of cap space left, according to capgeek.

It's not that we can't. We would significantly upgrade one position and downgrade another. Can we plug a hole through the farm? Free Agent pick up? Trade? You never know. But Ryan would be n upgrade. Ranger would make another move for a center after that.

Wouldn't they give up players that come close to Nash's cap hit?

They are playing games, trying to drive up the price. If they actually land Nash then Holmy is a freaking moron.

Dubi, Hags, MDZ and Arty is a massive overpayment. You just traded 55 goals(Dubi 15, Arty 15, Hags 15, MDZ 10) for 35-40 goals (Nash) and opened up 3 holes in the lineup(Nash replaces Dubi).
Now replace Arty, MDZ,and Hags through free agency. How much would that cost?
Can you see how Nash has almost negative value now? The guy is not worth trading for unless it's Dubi, a minor prospect, and a pick. And even then I don't think we should do it.

Howson wants a top 6 winger and top 4 D. If they are trading Defense for offense, it will only make their team worse IMO.

I know the cap hit sucks, but the type of assets the rangers are willing to give up for Nash are more manageable than the assets required to get Ryan.

What is holding up a deal is CBJ want top assets and Flyers wont agree to Schenn and Couturier. L Schenn deal last week a factor here

Howson is just moronic ^10. If PHI would do that deal Holmgren should get his ass kicked.

You're an idiot, Scott.
