Nicklas Hagman sounds like a good reclamation project? What do you guys think? He played alongside Richards and scored 27 goals in Dallas. Perhaps he can regain some of that magic on the powerplay? Sign him for 4th line duties?

I view Parise and Richards in the same light ... we don't need another Richards ... we need a dynamic guy on offense ... Richards is good, even great at times, but not ELITE.

He's finished tied for league lead in playoff goals scored with 8. The playoffs are sort of where our offense faltered and not to go unmentioned, his regular season averages 32 goals per 82 games played, with an upside of nearly 50 goals.

Also, let's compare him to a by the book definition of a pure goal scorer in Gaborik. Per 82 games, Gabby averages 37 goals. That's a 5 goal difference, but throw in playoff numbers and Parise kills Gaborik, thus justifying his likely similar or higher price tag.

Sooo..?

I fail to see any logic in trading any assets for Rick Nash when Zach Parise has scored more points and will not require assets if signed......

My plan would be to sign Suter. He is by far the best ufa in years. Not even close.

Send a message via Skype™ to Ave Maria
Ray Whitney, a 4th line center, and a depth D-man would be fine by me

nash and ryan will provide more or less the same production but cost us players that will offset the offense we gain...parise probably isn't worth the $$ he'll get but he certainly would make us better.

Everybody just seems to think since we made it 2 games away from the SCF we will be fine fo rthe next 3 years . No thats not how it works at all people . The teams around us are getting better . We need goal scoring Gabs will be out and who knows how he comes back come Jan . Who knows where we will be come Jan . We are a injury away from being a bottom feeder . Our D aside we have 4 top six fowards and 8 bottom 6 .

The price on Nash will come down and i hope we are all over it . Matter of a fact I hope we Get him because all of you guys who dont want him will be Rocking his Jersey next year cheering when he scores . Something this team wont do alot of with Gabs out and no other scorers .

Suter makes Girardi the most expendable, not Staal. Suter is a RD. Either way, we aren't getting Suter, nor should we.

on a guy like penner, he had a terrible regular season and will most likely get overpaid again. but my interest in him goes up IF we make a trade for another forward. if we give up multiple guys to get, let's say, nash, then penner becomes a decent option to replace some of the depth lost in that trade

That's a point I've seen a number of times in this thread. I believe it's a major piece in deciding what to do in free agency.

Here's my thesis. Coach's that are as demanding as Torts only get a few years with the team willing to play his style. If the team fails to show progress for a year or two, the players will start to quit on the coach. If the team overachieved this year then it's likely that we are looking at a team on the way down along with the system of play. Doing little is a bet that the Rangers are a SC contender with a tweak.

I believe that management's judgement on how close this team is to winning a cup is the motivating factor on whether to pull the trigger on a bigger deal.

i mean if we are 1 goal scorer away from the cup id throw the future of contending away and grab the cup and run like the blackhawks but i dont believe we are really one player away from winning it all which is why i dont believe in tossing the future for rick nash who is a tremendous player
