I'd ragequit on the NHL if Parise signed in Pittsburgh. That just wouldn't be fair
There is a salary cap. Why wouldn't it be fear just because pitts wants to do stuff to better their team? Yes they would be the heat but still within the rules
That's still a 12m cap hit isn't it? Confused at how the bonuses work w the cap?
The cap hit is the salary average over the course of the contract. Salaries are usually structured so players in their prime get most of their money upfront. All bonuses count against the cap. However, bonuses in ELC and +35 contracts can be rolled into the following year's cap.

His deal would be longer than the two years (probably 10-12 years). The cap hit is the total money divided by years. He would get much of the money up front, but I would expect the total value of the deal to be around $90m, with a $7-7.5m cap hit.
If Sather can sign some depth players I wont be shocked to see him trade for Yandle or Dan Boyle. Boyle has a window where he can be traded starting today

They'll be the NHL equivalent of the Miami Heat. 3 big guys and no one else ( I don't expect them to be able to re-sign Neal). Unfortunately in the NHL you can't win a championship that way.
I'm expecting Pens to offer Parise something in neighborhood of 10 years, $75-80 million.
****. Retirement contract worth 80 million, playing alongside Crosby and Malkin... That's a hard offer to refuse.
I sure as hell hope they offer him 8 or more per... they'd fall apart in 2 years if they don't drop malkin. no way they can keep the team financially stable if they have three forwards making 8-9 mil on top of neal and martin's 5 and fleury's 5.

Neal, Letang, and Fleury (despite his series against the Flyers) are no slouches either

Ahh ok I see. So someone who really wants him could offer huge money up front and keep the cap hit reasonable

Pittsburgh must be willing to amnesty Paul Martin, because, if the cap does come down after the new CBA is agreed to, they won't have the space if they sign Parise.
