Habs qualify 10 players

Is anyone else anxiously waiting to see who or if all RFA's will get qualified? Today at Noon is the deadline I think..

To my count, we're already sitting at 49 contracts, assuming we qualify all our RFA's.

50 is the max. Am I counting wrong?

Bold are RFA's I think WE could/should let walk. Give us some breathing room to go after UFA's

rumour floating that Engqvist got interest from overseas....

http://www.nsd.se/sport/artikel.aspx?ArticleId=6963558

Belongs to the Montreal organization
One that Kaizer is former Djurgården Center Andreas Engqvist, 24.

He has belonged to the Montreal Canadiens organization during the past two seasons but only recorded for 15 NHL games.

According to NSD's data, Luleå, like many other clubs in the premiership and Europe, demonstrated interest in the 24-year-old, who last season accounted for 44 points in 59 games in the AHL Club Hamilton Bulldogs.

But Engqvist would nonetheless, in accordance with NSD's tasks, wait and see what the Montreal has to say about the future before he himself takes a decision.

I'd give a 1 yr, 2way to Olivier Fortier. Last chance offer of sorts - And I'd make sure that Hamilton offers a contract to Conboy.

We need Hunter Bishop and Dalton Thrower to play on the same team some day. Two of the coolest names in hockey, for sure.

According to HIO the deadline to submit the qualifying offers is (was) 5PM EST today.

Anyone know who was, or wasn't, tendered a qualifying offer?

Hasn't been announced yet. Lavoie said there won't be any surprises.

Blunden, Nokelainen, Bishop, Fortier, Mitera, Slaney, Masse, Conboy, and Slaney are now free-agents.

Price didn't get one either but they already filed for arbitration in his case so he didn't need one.

Fortier and Conboy are somewhat surprising to see. Especially Fortier. The rest we can definately do without. Expect Tampa Bay to be all over Fortier.

Surprised Blunden and Conboy weren't made offers as depth AHLers. The rest I don't care about.

Glad everyone worthwhile was made a QO though.

Surprised Blunden and Conboy werent qualified. I had some hopes for Conboy that he could be a 4th line grinder who could drop them. It just wasnt meant to be.
Nokelainen didnt do what we asked of him. Not a big loss.
Bishop, Fortier, Slaney and Masse were all busts, kind of figured theyd all be gone to free up contract slots.
Mitera was brought over, he could be a depth AHL D, but with so many promising D prospects crossing to the AHL, he becomes a casualty of depth.

Still, what were the chance of those two to make any kind of impact at the NHL level?

Good to see that they qualified Nash despite his injury.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Masse, Fortier and Conboy on AHL contract. I felt that Conboy was close to the NHL about a year ago, however he didn't got a chance to prove himself last year because of an injury.

A little surprised about Blunden. Worst case scenario is that he would have been a decent veteran presence in Hamilton.

What's the deal with Conboy ? Don't remember why he played so little last season... Anybody want to fill me in ? I kind of thought he had a good chance to make it back in the day.
