So what now? (mod: how to respond to Suter/Parise signing by Wild)

With Minny solidifying itself as a force in the West by signing Parise and Suter, what do the sharks need to do to get everyone excited for next season? With only Burish signed, the consensus seems to me that most Shark fans don't want Rick Nash? Who would be your top 6 guy to go for in trade? Is Semin a viable option for a top 6 guy?

DW will probably trade for someone we didn't know was available.

Yes Semin. He is one of the best shooters in the league and plays well defensively.

Good, Malkin would look awesome next to Thornton.

Crosby would have been better but the contract scared the crap out of DW.

It won't happen, but would love to see Semin here.

I wouldn't mind Semin but do we have enough to get him? I would imagine with Parise off the market Semin is the next option with Doan 3rd in line. Am I right (I don't see us getting Nash.)

I think we're snookered. We seem to want to upgrade our top 6, but we don't seem willing to get rid of any of our young assets to do so, we have very little in the system of value and it's doubtful we move a blueliner to get a forward back either (of significant value).

I think we should try to move Marleau but I know it's not happening. As such I expect Demers/Murray to get moved for a 3rd line forward and that will be about it.

We'll end up with Doan. Just too much of a DW kind of signing.

Likelihood: slim to none. (And slim just left town...)

Honestly, I'd be happy if the Sharks just signed Wellwood and Doan.

Same here.

Marleau-Thornton-Doan
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Galiardi-Pavelski-Wellwood
Wingels-Desi-Burish

Vlasic-Burns
Murray-Boyle
Stuart-Demers/Bruan

I think that's a pretty damn solid lineup. Not Cup favorites but we'll compete for the division. I don't think LA is going to be runaway winners next season.

Wings, Preds and Coyotes on way down. Wild on way up.

It looks easier to make the playoffs this year, I'd have to say that.

I agree. Certainly not favorites, but they'd be contenders, and anything can happen in the playoffs. It'd be nice if Murray and Clowe were traded for more speed though.

People say that about the Coyotes every year, but they still make the playoffs.

The Sharks don't need to sign an overpriced FA. They simply need to play a better style of hockey on both sides of the puck. And hire some competent asst's.

Trading Clowe for a winger with speed wouldn't hurt.

They just lost their best overall forward and leader in Whitney.

No one knew that Smith was going to play the way he did. They had a deep forward group to fall back on, as well. They don't have that right now.

1) Start Drinking
2) Hope DW signs 2 decent UFA wingers (are their any left on the market :-(
3) Have another Drink
4) Hope DW pulls a deal out of his ass, and gets us a couple of decent wingers w/o giving up core players
5) Drink some more.

Very happy at Detroit not attaining Suter.

It's being talked about quite a bit here (Kessel as trade vait) as the Leafs have very little bargaining chips to work with and, they really need a goalie.

There's just no way that Burke would allow all those assets sent to Beantown to reduce down to Anttii Niemi...
