The fact that Winnik hasn't resigned could very well have to do with the fact that Todd McLellan and his staff are returning next season. If you join a team mid-season and are totally befuddled by their system, then fail in the playoffs pretty miserably, why would you want to return, especially if you're going to be playing under the same coaching staff? I can't imagine he developed any loyalty/connection to the team, organization or city. I expect him to sign somewhere else.

Because in Daniel Winnik's case, that was only his second playoff appearance in his career and his best buddy T.J. Galiardi is remaining with the team. Granted, neither of that is the biggest concern when it comes to your payday but there's no doubt that if you pay him enough, he'll come back. I expect him to sign elsewhere too but I will still be pretty upset about it because he's a part of the solution and they're letting him walk while useless guys like Handzus are still on the team.

I thought of this as well. Seemed like he thought the PK strategy was a joke, the Sharks say they are going to play differently but don't make any changes so far to the coaching staff.

We all see this, but Doug and his staff don't see what we do.

McLellan coming back isn't going to work. He should have been fired. The team going in a new direction requires a new voice in the room.
Jordin Tootoo, Mikael Samuelsson or Joey Crabb would look good in teal
Samuelsson isn't fat though, right? I also have a feeling he'll get paid $3M by someone. Crabb is a gamble. Tootoo is a fourth liner. So few options, I don't get why Winnik isn't re-signed.
but he's has the most wins of any head coach in his first four years!!! (or some crap)
blame Duh Wilson ...
McLellan won the lottery with his 1st coaching job. It would have been very difficult to fail with the rosters he was given, especially his 1st season. Getting hired, then having the team add Dan Boyle and FHOF Rob Blake made his job so easy.

Yeah, RW gets a lot of **** but he didn't have Dan Boyle and Rob Blake on his roster. We would've been first in the league regardless.
Did it ever occur to anyone whining about Winnik that maybe they have agreed to terms and are just waiting til tomorrow? Or maybe he and his agent have priced themselves out of SJ? Just because the Sharks want to sign him doesn't mean he has to sign.
**** it. 2.75 for Winnik is fine if it means keeping him and not doing anything then trading more picks and players to plug the hole he left.
2.75 x 3 with a NTC and Wilson would get railed by the board. I think Wilson would catch **** if he signed for 2.75. Winnik could be looking for 3-3.25 and might have to settle for 2.50-2.75 after seeing that no other teams will sign him for what he wants.
