How about Latendresse as a reclamation project. Doug loves those. He's big and slow, Doug loves that too. And he's a tweener.

Also, Dustin Penner should be priority 1. Pancakes is the bisquick that binds California teams and floats them on a syrup river to the cup.

I'd rather have UFA M. Samuelssen, more scoring punch, etc. if hes healthy.

There wasn't really anything wrong with him, Barch was just better. Both playwise and in fighting skills.

Tallon just trying to release contract spots I'm guessing. Santorelli probably goes on re-entry if he isn't picked up, which is unlikely given his play this season. Maybe even bought out if no one wants him on re-entry.

Not big on Penner, he is way to slow.

Difference between slow and lazy. Despite being a huge guy...Penner is pretty nimble. Lats is slow and lazy and injury prone. Sad since he has skill.

The sharks still need a third line. Last season the third line was little more than a liability that would trap the Sharks along with their best players in their zone

Whoever they get needs to be able to help the third line push the play and hopefully be able to help the sharks kill penalites

I wouldn't mind signing Olli Jokinen as our #3C then getting rid of Handguns. Thornton-Couture-Jokinen would make us stacked on centers. Not to mention Pavelski and Marleau.

yea Jokinen can still bring it....big body, can score...would be a good pickup....maybe grab hagman and Huselius for a nordic 3rd line!

Our center depth right now,

Thornton
Couture
Pavelski
Desjardins
Handzus
You could even use Marleau.

We need wingers not more centers.

Yeah, I would like to see that. I would then trade Pavelski for a young RH sniper winger+ picks.

I like Pavs on Thornton's wing, and none of the others would be a good #3 center. We could always trade for other wingers but this is a viable way to have three scoring lines....

Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Wingels-Jokinen-Winnik
x-Desjardins-x

I know its a pipe dream, but I"m starting to think that maybe getting Semin would be great for us. Too bad there is no reason he would want to come here.

- probably not going to offer him the most money
- no winning tradition
- no russian buddies to hang with
- San Jo-where?

... sigh....i'm going to go trade Clowe and Petrecki for Semin in NHL 12 now...

Dominos falling...

Crosby - 12 year extension @ 104.4 million, 8.7AAV
Hal Gill - 2 years, $4 million
Quick - 10 years, $7 million in first 7 seasons before going into cap circumvention years
Rask - 1 year @ 3.5 million
Nikitin - 2 years @ 4 million
Nichol - 1 year @ 650,000 (took less money)

Jokinen parting ways with Flames

What do we think of Jokinen for the Sharks as a UFA signing?

Probably about the same $$ as Whitney. Wonder if he can play wing, that might lessen pressure on him as a defensive forward.

Nope. Jokinen is the only legit 2nd line center available at UFA this year, the guy is about to get paid big time.

lol. Then sign him to a 8 year contract. Too ez

(I've actually never tried trading for someone's UFA rights, I wonder if they are valued)

And confirmed, Quick's deal is at 10 years, 58 million, with an AAV between 5.5-6 million
