If couture was a center piece he possibly would be. The Sharks would need to shed some salary and the Preds would need some salary to make the cap floor.

If a deal were to happen with Weber I think Boyle and Murray would be involved.

I don't think Boyle would include Nashville on his list

Isn't that a good thing? He can choose 8 teams he doesn't want to go to.

Doan decision - when was he going to make it the 8th or 9th?

My understanding was ... 'not before the 8th'. So the decision could be made tomorrow ... maybe.

I wasn't sure if he knew what Boyle's clause was. 8 teams isn't much and Nashville isn't a horrible team. I would think cbj, edm, and cgy would be 3. The other five are pretty up in the air.

I think the citizens are voting on the 8th, so his decision would probably come the next day.

Generically, CBJ, Edm, Fla, Minny and Buffalo have been no fly zones for UFAs. The only ones going were those who couldn't get signed elsewhere and the signings were late. Also a pretty good exodus of homegrown guys. As we have seen, that is breaking down a little. They had a poll a while back about least desireable cities for players (not teams) and Edmonton, Minny and Buffalo were at or near the top of the list.

If we were to get Doan, would he be on the 1st or 2nd line?

Couture-Jumbo-Doan
Marleau-Pavs-Havlat

But that would be a pretty slow top line.

So ..

Marleau-Jumbo-Doan
Couture-Pavs-Havlat

I guess Minny is burning that list right now.

Looks like it does have to do with winning teams (though Buffalo has been decent in recent years); UFAs don't want to go to perrenial losers.

For speculation purposes, lets take a guess at the eight teams he'd say no to: Edmonton, Calgary, Buffalo, Toronto, NYI, Jets, Columbus, Winnipeg.

I'd say Florida before Toronto.

Boyle still has family in Tampa though, so I don't think Florida would be that bad.

Seems like a pretty solid list. I'm torn between Toronto and Carolina.

Why are we talking about Boyle's NMC? Is there a realistic chance that he will be moved?

Sure, in Tampa. But Florida is another place he has had a bad experience and until just this season, they had been terrible for a long time. We'll see but it seems like they haven't even sent in a list since DW hasn't contacted them about it.

Considering DW didn't ask for the list and there really isn't any solid replacement, I'd say no.
But DW should have asked for the list on July 1st as a formality. Now it's too late. If he asks for it, Boyle will know he's being shopped.

They revamped the management and it's still a lot closer to his family than say Toronto. Boyle had a bad experience in Tampa too, but I don't think he'd mind going back there now.

Yes, they revamped their management but this past season could be a fluke and it's still not Tampa itself who didn't have a long time between playoff appearances regardless of management structure. I wouldn't be sold on Florida right now as a trade destination for him now especially if he's got Cup aspirations. If he's going to go to a place for his family, it's going to be where his family is rather than the next best place with maybe a worse shot (arguable for sure).

I was mainly arguing for Florida instead of Toronto. Florida made the playoffs this season but other than that, they haven't been there in ages. Toronto has a good playoff history, but they haven't sniffed it since the lock-out. I don't think either are going to win the Cup anytime in the near future, but at least he'll be closer to his family in Florida.

I was making a point more about perception of neighborhoods. Those have hounded Edmonton and Buffalo and a little bit on Minny. I made the point previously that some of it has broken down (Buffalo and Minny). It goes beyond the losing team issue.

I am surprised that players do not give more weight to issues of taxation. There are some locales (Florida and Tennessee) which give huge tax advantages. NYR (NYC tax specifically) and Montreal should take huge hits on taxation. Alberta is also friendly for tax purposes.

And by Jets, I meant Coyotes (due to uncertainty).

Have you looked and Parise's and Suter's signing bonuses? Sure they burned the list and fueled the fire with cash
