I don't know. Cap-hit and assets required for getting Nash put aside, I think Nash is better than Ryan is.

Couture for Nash
Clowe and a 1rst for Ryan (I would hate playing Anaheim even more)
Sign Parise

He's probably a slightly more talented Ryan, agreed. Nash was actually a badass PK'r and threat for shorties while Hitch was in CBJ also.

Couture for Nash.... That was already a nonstarter and for good reason Couture is penned to make 5.3 million less then Nash for the next two years. I don't see that the "upgrade" would possibly be worth that.

Clowe and a first for Ryan may work but I'd rather see the Sharks start drafting again

We should sign Doan, Whitney, Stempniak, Mueller, and resign Winnik and Gali. We'd be the San Jose Wild Avalanche Yote Sharks!

Ryan will not be had for Clowe+1st. If anyone is going to be bent over the negotiating table it is howson. Ryan staying in anaheim is much more likely than Nash staying.

Not that any of this is that realistic.

Couture for Ryan is the closest hockey trade SJ can make that works for both sides.

Top 6 winger is definitely the priority (actually feel pretty good about D right now...and goaltending will be...adequate....)

From my list, AK and Semin are the top 6 options, but a guy like Huselius or Poni could add some desperately needed depth scoring (Note to DW: Key word is depth scoring, not just depth players!!)

Tootoo is just a great energy guy for the 4th line, tenacious forechecker, might be a better option that Mitchell for instance (Although I have always had a soft spot for Mitchell)

No it doesn't... the Sharks would have to give something else up in that trade, just not to necessarily to Columbus.

Paying Nash an additional 5.3 million over 30 goals for the last two years Couture is a bad idea

When did I say Couture for Nash is anywhere good at all? That's horrible.

Miss read the post. Still a terrible Idea. Why pay Ryan 2.5 more especially when Ryan will be due a big raise at the end of his contract with a lot of suitors. Where Couture would be given a contract similar to what Ryan has now.

Galiardi has not signed his QO yet? Correct?

When does he have to sign it by?

Leaving to watch my daughter play a soccer game at the Nike Elite Camp (excited!) so I'll leave you with this:

Bobby Ryan is physically more talented than Logan Couture. Higher ceiling.

Bobby Ryan has had a longer track record of success than Logan Couture.

Despite the moniker "RPG" Ryan does not actually play with Getz and Perry that often. He anchors his own line.

Ryan is already an elite winger+finisher with speed (both sorely lacking on SJ.) Couture is a 2C projected in a team loaded with C's.

In order for Couture to function as a 1C he needs elite wingers like Ryan.

2 Million in the grand scheme of things is nothing if you find a better fit for your team and it puts you over the hump.

The Ducks are only trading Ryan because they want to re allocate their $ to C's and D without getting romped in a trade. This accomplishes that more or less. Similarly, it'd be nice if SJ flipped it's C talent for some elite wingers without getting romped in a trade ie. Nash for Couture/Pavs+.

You may not like the idea, or hold Couture as some sort of golden boy. But "terrible" is a bit of a reach IMO.

He can't sign it BEFORE July 1st, If I understand correctly.

Wrong, he can sign it when ever he wants. All a qualifying offer does is makes sure that the player has a contract in hand come july 1st so he stays a rfa. He can sign the qo and that would be his contract for the next year, or he can leave it and negotiate another contract with the team, and or another team.

So, based on what Philly fans said (just like you requested), he is that bad.
How do you get that when my quote says he's not that bad? Most of the people that have given their opinion about Carle from a Flyers' fan perspective have not said that he is bad defensively. I simply don't know where you get it from. You're still stuck in 2008 when had that abysmal sophomore season.

Calgary just re-signed Stempniak. So there goes that idea:

@TSNBobMcKenzie
CGY agrees to terms with Lee Stempniak on a 2 year deal worth $2.5M per year.

Darn, he would have been a good 3rd line option.

Bobby Ryan has absolutely wicked hand-eye coordination and dexterity.

That said, I would rather have Perry on this team if that were ever possible. He is exactly the kind of player we need.. as much as I hate his little puke guts.
