If Mojo is a potential long term solution at C (and we have no one else in the pipeline) then developing him at C should be a big part of the season. With Kuznetsov, Galiev, Wilson and Forsberg Mojo at C will be much more valuable.

Ward makes way more sense with Ribeiro than Backstrom. Ribeiro gravitates towards a cycle game and set piece offense while Backstrom is a very effective transition threat. Ward is one of our best board workers and cycle players, so I see him as a better fit with Ribs.

i rather just play everyone where they play best, if we had a great GM a hole would be filled from trade or free agency. as long as that hole isnt a #1 anything we should be OK

Seems Oilers fans would be open for an Omark for Schultz deal (since they don't have enough Schultz based players as it is).

I say we go for it. Wolski-Ribeiro-Omark. Daaaaaaaaaaaamn

We should loan Omark to KHL. It's a win scenario.

I think Foreman's brother would at least be a little more suited for that.

I know ive read similar comments so im not the only one thinking this but.......

I think they are pretty much done bringing in players this off season....like it or not this screams of a "we will let it play out and be in position to add during the season". There will be talk about "owing it to the players" or something like that.

with that said, Im probably ok with that. The team, to have any success will need 8 and 19 to play like they should be playing. Maybe a better way to say that is they need to produce as expected. Without that there isnt much hope for real success. If they get that kind of production then, overall, they should be fine during the 82 game pre-season.

I dont think they need to replace 28 at this moment. When the "real" season starts they will need to have made some solid moves based on how the team looks during the regular season, but thats a long way off.

Any chance schilling makes a push for number 6/7 spot?

I constantly hear he looks good and can play in the NHL. I haven't seen him play though

As our team is constructed, I see no way Schilling can possibly wow enough to win a job. The only way, is injuries. Maybe George moves out a LD but I consider it highly doubtful; he covets. That is his nature.

I see him in Hershey all year. He did look good in camp but given his age and experience, it was expected.

A little late, but

8-9-21
90-19-42
25-85-20
26-83-Crabb

Got a feeling Ward gets a chance in the top 6 to see if he can do something like he did in Nashville.

As for D

27-74
44-81
52-Hillen/Schultz/Schilling

I know it's just semantics but think Green doesn't gets $6m per year to be our #5. I agree with the D-lines but not the order. 42 on the 2nd line is an insult to 19. Then again, most of our options are insults.

LOL...yeah um...Barring the occasional heavy PK game and assuming Green is healthy, he's the top ice time earner on the blueline....

Green is gonna be partnered with Schultz and that pairing is gonna lead the team in icetime, as has been the case pretty much always.

And McPhee is still gonna have a ****ing job next spring

"Stretch" is back: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...88RX_blog.html

Quote:
Caps fans may remember Brett “Stretch” Leonhardt, who made headlines on Dec. 12, 2008, when the 6-foot-7 web producer and ex-college netminder made his NHL debut (from the bench) as an emergency backup.

Leonhardt left the Capitals in February 2011 to work for the NHL as a video editor, but the team announced today that he’ll return this season as video coach. Add that to the list of other roles Leonhardt has had with the Capitals (pregame DJ, podcast host, practice goalie...) and essentially all that’s left is GM.
