Mark Madden @MarkMaddenX
I have seen the future of the Penguins defense. Its name is CARL SNEEP.
He gets trashed a lot but I kind of like Sneep. IMO he looked pretty good during his call up.
Anyone else have an interest in Parros and Zanon? Maybe not the sexiest names out there but they fill needs IMO. Sure Parros is known for fighting but I like his size for the 4th line and he can give a pretty good shift too. Zanon cna be the player we all wanted Zib to be.
Plus the Pens still have about 10 mill of dead money left to trim.
I really don't think we need anymore bottom 6 forwards. Tangradi & Jeffrey deserve a chance to play, and although each may have top-6 or top-9 upside, they may have to start on the 4th line with some occasional PP time. Unless one of these guys is going to get traded, we've got more than enough bodies in the bottom 6.
Not to mention, if we are going to sign Parise, and possibly Suter or another forward to play in the top-6, we need guys who are as cheap as possible. Jeffrey's salary is as close to league minimum as you can get for a forward of his ability & upside, and I suspect Tangradi can be re-signed for similar money to Jeffrey if it's a one-way deal.
No way in hell I want Tangradi and Jeffrey on the 4th line.. I much rather a 4th line with some grit, toughness and get under the opponents skin. Shero metioned he wanted to be tougher to play against and I'm hoping he revamps the bottom 6 with some tough players. If Tangradi can be a 3rd line player that's fine but I think he's being wasted playing on the 4th.. I would love a 4th line of Tootoo- Vitale- Burish like another poster suggested they would be a headache to play against

I'm not against a tougher 4th line, but we already have
Cooke, Sutter, Kennedy, Tangradi, Jeffrey, Vitale, Adams and possibly Dupuis all in the bottom 6. i'd much rather upgrade the top 6, its not like these guys are Charmin Soff, but if TK or someone were to be traded it wouldn't be so bad to bring in one tougher guy.
Anyone who would not want Parros on our 4th line is a Godless Comm'nist.
Regarding Cullen's take on Wideman: it's not hard to PREDICT he would make $5M+ a year, but that doesn't make him any less overpaid. Although I might take his mediocre D and great offensive skills on the PP for $5M over Martin, the way things went last year. Preferably though I'd like to have neither of those problems on the books.
I'm not against adding size to the team. It is a need and I want to do that but the guy also has to be able to play. A healthy Moen is an example of a guy like that. I just hear to many negative things about Parros from Ducks fans these days. Seems he may be done or at least rapidly declining. I really doubt he'd crack our lineup and he certainly wouldn't play in the playoffs. I think the ideal thing is to find big guys that can play the game and will be in the lineup come playoff time.
I'd be interested in Hudler as an option if we miss out Parise and Ryan. Of course, it depends how much he wants.
Hudler's name also caught my interest but who knows what the heck he wants. He could be going back to the KHL for all we know. If he would be willing to come to Pittsburgh we should put our hats in for sure.

Yeah I forgot about him for UFA's. He made just under 3 mil last year. I'd give him the Kunitz contract if he was willing to come here. 2 years 3.75. In that case, he wouldn't be the only winger acquisition, but he could be pretty valuable.
Hell no to Parenteau. I'm sure hed rack up the points as a RHS on our PP, but he won't be worth the money he'll command. Ray Whitney is a much better option.
As for Hudler. Detroit's forward corps isn't exactly sparkling and yet he isn't a very high priority for them. Plenty of other options via trade before I go that route.
If we deal TK for Parros' mustache, can we throw Sid's mustache in on the deal? And do we put Parros' on the first line with Sid? I think it would really shine come playoff time.

It goes on Paul Martin for sure. You don't need to actually BE tough with that mustache, you look so tough nobody touches you.
Anyway, not saying Hudler is my first option, just that he's a good player that can put up 50-60 points in a top 6 role. If we can't get Parise, Ryan, or Whitney, I can't think of many more valuable guys if he will sign under 4 mil. I have no idea what his demands are, but if he would sign 2 years 3.75, I think I'd take it.
PA Parenteau - There's a connection between him and the Pens. Shero knows his camp very well and Dan Bylsma played on and coached the same ECHL team as Parenteau, the Cincinnati Cyclones. Parenteau is a skilled, right handed winger, who I think would be a good fit on the Penguins if Shero wants him. Obviously wouldn't be a top priority to sign.
Jiri Hudler - Represented by the same agent as Jaromir Jagr, Petr Svoboda, nuff said.
One guy that should be interesting is Latendresse. Guy is a legit top 6 power forward when healthy. Just would have to be sure the concussion thing is better & nothing long term. If we miss out on Parise, Suter, Ryan, Nash, Yandle I would look at...
Is Mueller considered to "soff"? Ive liked his talent since he got drafted and he put up good PPG pace in Colorado. His concussion issues may be a case of concern tho.
