No love for mel?

Can someone tell me why there isn't much love for Richard Nedomlel?

What's not to love about his progression?
Anyone thinkin' mean Ericsson?

Said this in one of our prospect discussions the other day. He had a good year concentrated on hockey and only fought two times. He will have to bring that back but probably was good for his development. I think you undersell Big E a little because he does have top 4 qualities and I don't think Nedomlel is more than a bottom pairing NHL guy. But he will be a large and potentially nasty bottom pairing guy. A lot to like but not everyone is going to make it. He is rightfully far behind the discussions about Smith, Ouellet, Jensen, and Sproul. Marchenko has fascinating qualities as well would go much higher with the same passport as Nedomlel.

I fear with the draft pick of "Big" Mike McKee and his minty new status Nedomlel will get a little lost in the shuffle. Really if either one of those hits that would be awesome. If both hit or one peaks out above bottom pair we might have a really mean big D in five or six years especially if Big E's potential is reached in the top 4 as he is no slouch as a fighter and could get more physical.

I'm curious to see him as a pro but otherwise I'm not expecting much. The Wings have had these WHL tough guys from time to time (Stamler sticks out in my head as a recent one) and they never seem to make it as pros.

Pretty excited about him to be honest. Went from 10 pts to 46 points in 1 year, that's pretty awesome. He showed he can contribute some offense, which surprised me a lot. Kind of concerned about the -35 though...

His team is pretty terrible if that helps explain it. Played as the top pairing guy a decent amount of time really also kind of upset he didn't get to play on the Czech WJC team.

That's downright scary.

I like Ned, I think he'll be a better pro than junior player as well. Plays that mean game, but also has some offensive potential which is why I was excited about this pick and not so much the McKee pick.

Does his home country still have a stick up their butt or will he be allowed to play at the WJHC this year?

I like the pick, but hard to excited now, he's got a long way to go before NHL is on the table.

Well most rankings are based on skill - hockey skill - so it makes sense he is not listed as a top prospect. That's no knock on him, he just needs to continue to develop his game and things will sort themselves out.

Remember Mitchell Callahan? He's actually ranked below Thomas McCollum.
